Minutes of the Executive Committee Meeting held  on  Friday 23 July 2004

At Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre, Stowmarket.

2.

Matters Arising

Affiliation for the South for Malcolm Fenton’s Group.  Malcolm having problems to get his people together.  Awaiting affiliation. An e-mail from Malcolm Fenton regarding the affiliation, which he is not going to continue with, was sent to Phil Tomkins.

Phil Tomkins tried to get in touch with Malcom Felton, but not been able to contact him.  Concerned that we are being blamed for them not affiliating.   Phil Tomkins will ring Chris Carter and let him know what we are doing.

Finance

Current Finances circulated to all. Income for year £3772.95 & Expenditure was £4149.68. Received a grant from Eveque for Sporstshall Athletics.     Insurance renewal  £300.  Road Levies £765.96   We are getting some more grant money. 

£12 received for sale of tops

 

 

5.

Track & Field

5K Championships held on 21st June, Good turnout, £113.00 entry fees.

Chris Starmer won the Men’s race and Tamar Jordan won the women’s race.

English Schools – Matt Barnes-Smith  1st 3000m    Ben Higgins 2nd Senior Boys 400m   Nicole Sadler 2nd  Intermediate Girls 100m

Race Walking

None

 

 

7.

Cross Country

A letter was sent to all clubs to sat they could have another venue or stay with Weststow .  All wanted a new venue.

RAF Barnham have offered to host it.  Pacers are to organise.  This is a tough course.   Facilities available and cadets may be available for helping us.

Entry Fees £2.50  U17    £3.00 over  All  in favour.   We will have to pay for St Johns Ambulance to be in attendance.

Changes for the U17 women to run  the same distance as man were discussed.  U17/U20 Women together? 

Cross-Country Secretary to look at this and come back with ideas at the next meeting

Road Running

Road Relays Mutford  - 5 teams disqualified because they were not wearing the correct colours.  There was a lot of discussion about this. Sandra Cheatham wants a letter sent to all clubs regarding kit.

 

The shield is at Bury St Edmunds Sports Centre -  Contact J Drake.

Officials

A reminder to all officials to send in their duty sheets by the end of September to the relevant people.  Either Sandra Cheatham or if grade 2 and above Don Turner (SEAA).

We have been asked by the County Schools Association to hold course for Teachers and these are in the process of being arranged.

 

Road Show by Maggie Still and Liz Patrick at Cambridge.  The Chairman, Sandra Cheatham and Mike Oakley attended.  The new grading structure was mentioned, but nothing appears to be happening prior to 2005.  Following the meeting Sandra Cheatham was invited to attend a meeting in Birmingham for County Officials, but this was the same meeting as at Cambridge.  A list of officials has been sent to UKA, but no phone numbers or addresses have been given.

 

 

11.

Coaching

Ray Wells  received updates on level 3 & level 4.

Disappointed that we have to go to Cardiff to do coaching courses.

Sandra Cheatham to put together details of problems so that we can send them to UKA

Grant – Money not being released  until they accept the Foster Report.    As soon as they have the money everything it will be released.

Correspondence

Karin Mead has the  paperwork for Intercounties.

Meeting about the Foster Report. 24 May 2004       Still a lot of talking but not getting anywhere.  There could be loss of the regions at some point.  Counties need to be strong.  Joe Mower presented the idea of the 9 hubs

England will have to have a registration scheme.

Team Managers – Teams for 10K?

Affiliation from Orwell panthers athletic club.  Club for athletes primarily with learning difficulties.   All age groups.  Started with Beacon Hill School   All in favour
