20 Miles
The accurately measured course has an approximate 1-mile out ‘n’ back section at
the beginning and end of the run. The
rest of the 18 mile course is made of a single anti-clockwise loop taking in the
villages and hamlets of Nowton, High Green,
Pinford End, Mickley Green, Melon Green, Lawshall, Hartest, Shimpling, Lawshall
again, Stanningfield, Hoggard’s Green,
Brook Green, Hawstead, returning to Nowton and into the park. Throughout the
course there are very scenic views of the
rolling and undulating West Suffolk countryside with a couple of moderate climbs
on course, one at 9 miles and one at 18
miles.
Nearly Ten The Nearly Ten
(actual distance 9 miles 703 yards) runs along the same route as the 20 miles
run until the 5 mile mark where
the 20-mile race turns right and the Nearly Ten turns left. The Nearly Ten
rejoins the 20-mile course at the 17-mile mark.
The Nearly Ten has one moderate climb at 7.5 miles.
Drink Stations
Drink stations in the 20-mile race will be
situated at approximately 3 miles, 6 miles, 9½ miles, 12 miles, 15 miles 18½
miles and at the finish.
Drink stations in the Nearly Ten will
be at approximately 3 miles, 6 miles, 8½ miles and at the finish.
Drop Out Procedure / First Aid
If for some reason you are unable to
complete the run, there will be a system in operation enabling you to
drop out and transport will be arranged back to
the finish for you. Please make your way to the closest Drink
Station, which will also have First Aid and
Communication Personnel in attendance and inform them that you wish to drop out
and they will arrange for your transportation to the finish. If you are unable
to make it to a Drink Station but only require transport, please pass a message
to a fellow runner as to your location and a vehicle will be sent to you. If
you injured, please state so, and First Aid will be dispatched to you.
The Finish The finish is also the avenue of trees close to the start. It will consist of a double funnel so please follow the steward’s instructions into which funnel you are directed. Changing funnels may lead to your disqualification for the race, or at least you may lose your position in the race. You can only claim your finisher’s memento for the race you have entered. e.g. if you drop out of the 20-Mile and only finish the Nearly Ten you will not receive any memento.
Time Limits The event has a time limit of 5 hours. After that time if you are still on the course you will asked if you wish / require to be taken to the finish. If transport is refused, it will be your responsibility to behave as a pedestrian and abide by the Highway Code. There will be NO MARSHALS on the course after 5 hours.
