Morvah Parish Map

The Morvah Parish map is with us!

The Morvah Parish Map has been designed and created by members of the parish of Morvah and associated friends. It is an extraordinary piece of work that covers the entire history of Morvah Parish and includes maps, photos, illustrations and cuttings.

Bit by bit, Morvah's ancient history was pieced together thanks to the efforts of the people of Morvah who rooted through their attics and shoe-boxes to find gems from the past. The history includes mining, farming, shipping, John Wesley and the church, hidden treasure and Morvah giants.

The book was designed by a long-standing friend of The Schoolhouse, Paula Johnson. Paula is a graphic designer and artist, living in Newlyn. She has designed and produced a beautiful large handmade leatherbound book that will serve as a permanent record of the parish of Morvah.

Graham Roberts, former Chair of the Trustees at the Schoolhouse, and passionate about local history, compiled the data and then enlisted the help of Jane Pugh, former co-ordinator of the Schoolhouse, to write it all up. A mammoth task, considering that this quiet little parish isn't very quiet at all!

The whole project was funded by the Local Heritage Initiative Fund, administered by the Countryside Agency.  The book is on permanent display at the Schoolhouse and specially published excerpts from the book will be available for sale for anyone who is as excited and fascinated by who we are and where we come from.
