As we forge our way into the future so we find ourselves looking to the past. Our new projects reflect and represent our history and a sense of who we are and where we came from. The Bronze Age Holy Well.
The Bronze Age Holy Well Pamphlet. Local historian, Cheryl Straffon, researched the history of the Holy Well and provided the text to our pamphlet. Paula Johnson, local graphic artist designed the pamphlet, Bob Berry provided the photographs and we commissioned St. Ives poet, Jenny Hill, to write a poem. The pamphlet offers a fascinating insight into the history of the well. Did you know the well provided water for the entire village up until the 1960's? The pamphlet is available in local libraries and here at the Schoolhouse( being reprinted), or go to the holy well page to find out the full history of the well.
The Morvah Parish Map We're very excited about the Parish Map because it is extra special. We enlisted the help of local artist, Paula Johnson, to make us a hand made book that is permanently available for reading here at the Schoolhouse. The book consists of maps of the parish with accompanying social, economical and historical information about the parish of Morvah. We have illustrations, anecdotes and information. It's represents not only what we know about our parish in April 2003, but how we feel about it too. A treasure to be treasured. See the Morvah Parish Map page. The History of Morvah Exhibition To bring together all our history initiatives, a history of Morvah exhibition took place in August 2002. We pooled all our resources to gather together photos, maps, historical accounts and artefacts. This proved to be a fascinating show and accessible for everyone, local and visitors. |
