Nearby Properties

We are fortunate in having several National Trust properies nearby.

Finchampstead Ridges and Simons Wood

Finchampstead Ridges near the Toposcope Finchampstead Ridges is on the B3348 between Crowthorne and Finchampstead. It comprises woodland and a heather ridge. The area was bought in 1913 after a public appeal, and it is thus one of the earliest National Trust properties. The open views of a century ago are now largely hidden by trees, but selected thinning in recent years allows glimpses across the Blackwater valley.

Please click here for information about the acquisition of Finchampstead Ridges.

Simons Wood is nearby, just off Wellingtonia Avenue, which gives access to a car park in the woods. The wood and the adjoining Heath Pond were partly given by Mr C G H Simon, and partly acquired in the will of Mr Roy Brooks.

Kindly note that the Finchampstead Ridges and Simons Wood properties are managed by a separate committee of local people working alongside National Trust staff. SEBA is not directly involved except for giving financial support.

Ambarrow Hill

Ambarrow Hill Summit Ambarrow Hill is a pine clad hilltop just off the A321 between Crowthorne station and Sandhurst. Access is from the Bracknell Forest Borough Council car park in the adjoining Ambarrow Court land (the house no longer exists).

This property was acquired in 1933 under the will of Mrs E L Harvey.
