ABOUT THE AUTHOR

My name is Andrew Baines and I have been interested in Titanic since a very early age. I think that it all began when I saw the film 'Raise the Titanic'. I was awestruck by the sight of this beautiful ship freeing herself from the ocean floor, still holding her glory underneath the rust. When I was told that the Titanic had existed, and that a man called Walter Lord had written a book about it, I had to read it. From that minute I have been hooked. The idea of the biggest moving object ever made, filled with some of the richest people in the world, as well as some of the poorest, hitting an iceberg and sinking on her maiden voyage captivated me. Like many people interested in Titanic, I have amassed a library of material in connection with the ship, and continue to buy books when I can afford to do so. It is the many mistakes I have made when buying publications that has lead to me creating this site. My interest has spread into all things nautical and I now work onboard the 19th century battleship HMS Warrior 1860
