A very impressive publication, containing the book "The Loss of the SS Titanic. It's
Story and it's Lessons, by Lawrence Beesley a second class passenger; The Truth About the Titanic,
by Col. Archibald Gracie; The section on Titanic from Commander Lightoller's Autobiography, and Harold Bride's Newspaper
Account.
Be warned that three out of these four were written within months of the disaster, and
so do not read as easily as the modern books you may be used to. This aside they are all
very impressive accounts of what went on on that fateful night. Be wary of trusting all
of the facts as presented, both Lightoller and Gracie claim the ship sank intact, but in
fact she broke apart.
All of the accounts allow you to see the disaster through the eyes of a person who
not only lived through it, but of course saw it through 1912 eyes. All to often an author can instil
present day views into their writing, here we get an accurate view of the disaster through
the eyes of the time, and as such they are invaluable research tools.
