Peter Boddy handing over the first donation

Charity ride august 2005.

This annual event was instigated by the late Peter Boddy MBH and has always been great fun, we hope that everyone who participated this year enjoyed the day many thanks must go to all who helped and participated.  Thanks to Janet and Wallace Kitchen, who deal with all the finance and presentation, Jo bower who runs the raffle and does all the bits we miss, Mr. & Mrs. Caruthers and Bob Batterick for organising the bbqs.  The masters created a ten mile superb course to ride over and last but not least a great thanks to the farmers and landowners whose land we crossed during the day.

The good new is that the day it self raised £2000 for cancer and Heart funds at the Nottingham City Hospital.  The presentation will take place at the opening meet at Readyfields on the 22nd of October at 12.30pm, please try to attend to support these good causes.

The charity ride was instigated by the late Peter Boddy in 1994, having himself just had a triple heart bypass.  Wallace Kitchen had previous to this, had a quadruple by pass by the same surgeon, Dr Morris.  Peter and Wallace thought it would be a good idea to raise funds for cardiac equipment and decided to support gnae/oncology as well.  They co-opted the vicar Mr. Tony Tucker and The late Mr. Ken Richuss from Caunton who was very well known long distance runner.  Sadly ,and unknowingly at the time both Ken and Peter both, in fact had cancer and lost their lives to this in 2002 and 2001.  It was upon their deaths that it was unanimously agreed to keep the charity ride functioning in memory of both of them.  To date the ride has Raised £20,260 for cancer and heart research at the City Hospital Nottingham which we are immensely proud of.

WELL DONE TO ALL THOSE WHO STARED IT, CONTINUED IT AND HAVE PARTICIPATED IN IT IN ANY WAY!!!

LETS CONTINUE THIS PHENOMENAL SUCCESS FOR 2006

The Annual Spring Hunt Ball was once again, held at the Cederic Ford Pavillion at the Newark Showground, on April 21st.

Around 350 guests attended and had a super meal of roast beef, which they could carve at the table.  Lovely deserts  to follow (complete with Easter Eggs).  Everone was in full party spirits, the band and disco   filled the dance floor from the point of playing and contiued to do so all night until 2am, where by this time most had partied and danced their feet off,  consumed there quotas of alcohol, had there pictures taken by Colbeck, finally concluding in a  very successful and enjoyable night.

The raffle was very successful and thanks to all those that bought tickets from the lovely girls selling them.

Finally we would all like to express a massive thank you to Jane And Robert for once again organising such a lovely event.  It is not an easy event to run and organise successfully every year.  We are sorry Jane is unable to run the event next year which will be on Friday 23rd March 07.  If anyone is interested in helping in running the event then please contact one of the masters.

Lets get ready to party!

On Sunday the12th February, the hounds met at Thorseby Park, home of Mr & Mrs Matheson.  The cap and donations taken from followers and supporters, totaled  a fantastic £850.00 This goes to the Notts and Lincs air ambulance.  Mr Mathesons sons' friend, Kevin ran the first line, to which hounds hunted slowly until finally getting to grips with their quarry, in the oaks. They then ran him hard through to Willesley Lodge where they checked briefly until they re-found the line and caught him at Nelsons Lodge.

After second horses, much needed drinks and a 15 minute start, hounds set off in pursuit of Mr Matheson.  Hounds found his line in Deer Barn and ran past the field study centre back towards the hall. They then crossed the weir and ran onto Shepherds Lodge into the forestry and back to the Morris Dancers Plantation, again checking briefly.  Following a few twists hounds re-gathered the line and ran the open to Piperwell Wood, through the Old Deer pen and away to Marys Grove.  Hounds checked here.  Jane smith had seen him cross the county road across a strawed carrot field to Pierrepoint Bridge, where they pushed him on slowly down the lake path, where walkers and fisherman foiled the line to finally account for their quarry outside Thoresby Hall.

We all had a super day jumping timber and post and rail all day, all supporting a worthwhile cause. Many thanks to Mr & Mrs Matheson and everyone at Thoresby Estate.
