Renewable energy

Renewable energy is about energy generation systems that have the "fuel come to them". By this is meant the sun comes to a solar heater, the wind to a wind turbine and the waves to a wave-energy system. Since "the energy is there anyway by nature", renewable energy is much less damaging than burning fossil fuels and nuclear power.

"Green energy" would add to renewable energy generation from biofuels. Here, trees and crops are cultivated to be transformed efficiently to a refined fuel or electricity combined with heat.

These energy sources are becoming increasingly important these days. They are one part of slowing the onset of climate change (see also CO2 reduction pages).

An excellent magazine is Home Power, published by ... in. The current issue can be downloaded for free (in PDF format). There has been some debate about this in the letters pages but the publishers' view is that spreading the word is the most important. As long as enough people buy the printed magazine to keep them solvent, then fine. The magazine can be obtained in the UK from Wind and Sun based in Herefordshire.
