EV programmes

A few programmes in the UK are actively examining the issues of electric vehicles and how to increase their use.

ZEUS (Zero Emissions in Urban Society) is a European wide project aiming to introduce 1500 alternatively-fuelled vehicles to a number of cities. The UK section of ZEUS is coordinated by Helmut Lusser (tel. 01273 245736, helmut.lusser@globaltolocal.com).

Southwark Council has several EVs as part of the ZEUS programme.
CITELEC is an association of local authorities active on the EV front.

A project in Switzerland in Mendrisio is specifically addressing the issues facing individuals who want to buy and use EVs.

France is committed to EVs in a big way. There are a couple of articles describing the French scene in 1996 (April and May-June) which even then was vigorous.

AVERE, the European Electric Road Vehicle Association, has links to the main European EV demonstration project sites.
