Music
Here are a few of my favorite artists....
Nitin Sawhney, a very talented young man who mixes Indian, jazz, spanish guitar and plays a number of instruments beautifully. His albums often have a number of guest vocalists.
Talvin Singh again fuses a number of musical types especially drum 'n' bass and Indian traditions.
Terry Callier is hard to classify, jazz, folk, soul.....no matter his lyrics speak volumes to me. To see an interview with Terry click here. I recommend all his music but particularly like TimePeace and Lifetime.
Healing Tones are very special to give and receive. This is the site of one of the world's most respected teachers Chris James
France plays the Celtic harp most beautifully and is a wonderfully engaging story teller.
Craig Pruess produces amazingly powerful music which induces deep states of meditation.
General sites
Gabrielle Roth has developed a very powerful process called The Five Rhythms which uses movement to express our emotions. The Moving Centre School in the UK helps to co-ordinate Five Rhythm teachers and sessions. For local London information call 0845 458 8251. I generally enjoy these sessions of movement once a week and find them inspiring.
Chris Southall has been teaching drumming, shamanic sweat lodge, Gabrielle Roth's 5 Rhythms for many years along with running tribal camps. I have always enjoyed Chris's sessions and so gladly recommend him.
Nicholas Roerich was an incredible man. An artist, an archeologist, a pacifist, a great thinker and a hero of Russia, his native land. Alive through the turbulent arrival of the twentieth century, he lived in Russia, Europe and America before embarking on scientific tours on Mongolia and Tibet before finally settling in India.
