In 1998 Jackie (then my girlfriend, now my wife) and I planned to walk from Chamonix (in France) to Saas Fee (in Switzerland) via Zermatt. This is a route
known as 'The Walkers Haute Route' The route runs from Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn and passes
through high mountain passes and alpine meadows, includes an exciting glacier crossing and reveals views
and scenery that you could never see from the car or a coach. |
I am a member of the Southern Trekking & Mountaineering Club (STMC)
This is a walking club based loosely around London and weekend meets are held every two or three weekends.
The meets are always held in one of the wilder, more rugged parts of England and Wales enabling us to get some
good walking in. Twice a year, in winter and spring, we spend a week in Scotland where the walking is more challenging
and involves a lot of the white stuff in the winter.

I've been experimenting receiving weather satellite pictures from polar orbiting satellites.
