Five adjacent Independent hostels on a 12 acre croft on the west coast of Skye with panoramic views over the sea and mountains. They provide comfortable, fully equipped and inexpensive self-catering accommodation, in an ideal location for all outdoor activities.

Recently rennovated and upgraded, the Croft Bunkhouse is one of only two hostels on the Isle of Skye to achieve a 4 star grading from Visit Scotland (the only fully independent Hostel grading scheme in Scotland).

The Bunkhouse
Sleeps 14 on bunkbeds, one twin room and one large dormitory. Hot showers, fully equipped kitchen, communal drying room, washing machine and large common room with dining & lounge area.		 The Bothy
Sleeps 6 on sleeping shelves in first floor dormitory with views over sea and Portnalong harbour. Fully equipped kitchen/living room on ground floor, drying room, toilet & hot showers. A popular family unit.
The Cabin
A small self contained unit for 2 with built-in bunkbeds in the compact kitchen/living room. En-suite toilet facilities, use main hostel showers. Fine views over crofts to the sea.		 The Bothy Beag
A compact self contained unit sleeping 4 on built-in bunkbeds in fully equiped kitchen/living room. Shower & toilet.
The But and Ben
A free standing self-contained unit, recently renovated, double-glazed and fully insulated to latest housing standards. Sleeps 4 in bunkbeds.		 Wigwams
Two wooden chalets, double-glazed and fully insulated to latest housing standards, that can sleep up to 5 people each. Using toilets and showers only, or using all hostel facilities (subject to availability).

    • Location

    The Croft Bunkhouse & Bothies are situated on the west coast of Skye at Portnalong on the B8009 road 3 miles (5km) from the Talisker Distillery and 800m from Portnalong pier. Portnalong is a pleasant, quiet crofting area with enjoyable coastal and moorland walks nearby. The hostels are 500m from the pub and 600m from the shop. The Cuillins are only 20 minutes drive away to either Glenbrittle or Sligachan.

    If driving, from Sligachan take the A863 for 4 miles (7km) to the junction with the B8009, follow this road for 6 miles (10km) through the village of Carbost, past the Distillery to Portnalong, following the signs for the Croft Bunkhouse and the Little Gallery.

    There is a regular bus service (weekdays only) from Portree and Sligachan to Portnalong (Nicolsons Tel 01470 532240).
