The Truth Game opens at the National Film Theatre

How well do you know your friends?
Would you know if your friend had taken drugs?
Would you know if they had been cheating on their partner?
Would you know if they had been cheating on their partner with your partner?

THE TRUTH GAME, the second feature film from acclaimed independent writer/producer/director Simon Rumley (Strong Language) opens at The National Film Theatre for a 2 week run on 20th July 2001.

Six friends get together for dinner one evening, an event that could happen at any one of thousands of homes in any one of thousands of towns across the country. Some of the six are old friends, some are new; they all think they know each other really well; they laugh easily together, they enjoy each other's company. But as the evening unfolds, some of the jokes turn to truths, some truths turn to lies, and sometimes it's hard to tell one from another.

Eddy - Stuart Laing (In The Land Of Plenty) and Lilly - Selina Giles (Restoration) are in love and happily married. He's a frustrated novelist and part time drug dealer, she's a career woman and socially adept. Dan - Paul Blackthorne (Holby City) and Charlotte - Tania Emery (The Bill) have been together for a year and are on the verge of separating. He finds fault in everything she says and does; she is already seeing someone else, but has not got around to ending the relationship. Alex - Jennifer Whiteand Alan - Thomas Fisher (The Mummy Returns) have a warm and loving relationship; he is as shy is she is outgoing, but they share a whacky sense of humour. He tolerates her friends, whilst she genuinely enjoys their company. And then there is Kate - Wendy Wason, Eddy's friend and supplier who turns up unexpectedly and decides to act on her long held crush on him.

"Without feeling the need to make his characters likeable, he (Simon Rumley) does - rather like Richard Linklater, Whit Stillman or even Eric Rohmer - manage to get under their skin... Perceptive and compulsively watchable." - Geoff Andrew (BFI)
