Council Plot

Roughly equivalent to the American "Projects", British Council Estates provide state owned and maintained housing at reasonable rents for those unable or unwilling to buy or rent in the private sector.

Though they do often provide shelter for people who would otherwise be unable to afford a home, they - like the Projects - have the unhappy side effect of "ghettoising" the inhabitants. Even in this modern age of supposed tolerance Council Estates, for many, are always the wrong end of town.
