Cathy McGowan

Cathy McGowan was the youthful host of Ready, Steady, Go!,

the prime British TV pop showcase. It strove successfully for a club atmosphere, and was highly regarded as a trendsetting programme, especially by mods.

The programme, which ran from 1963 through 1966, inspired the BBC to launch the less hip but longer running Top Of The Pops in 1964.

The Yardbirds, featuring Jeff Beck, appeared on Ready, Steady, Go!.
