Created and hosted by Rod Serling (pictured), the "Twilight Zone" television series, which ran from 1959 to 1964, was devoted to stories of fantasy and the imagination and produced with a respect for the audience.
The TV show has been resurrected in recent years, with middling results, and the 1983 "Twilight Zone : The Movie" feature film will be forever dogged by the death of actor Vic Morrow, who, along with two Vietnamese-American children, was killed in a helicopter accident during the filming. The director of the movie, John Landis, was tried for involuntary manslaughter; after a very public five-year trial, he was acquitted in 1987.
