First the "Bungalow vignette" image was borrowed from Chalkhills next door. Eye-balling the original drawing a set of simple planes describing the walls and roof were assembled in "Alias", a 3D program. The 2D Bungalow vignette image was then coarsely chopped into separate image files and applied to the 3d planes. Additional black and white images were needed to "cookie cut" the cloud and tree shapes, which are also on rectangular planes. The hill is concocted of two profile curves spread to a surface. Lights are then added to the mix. The sun, a light whose source is visible, is described in intensity, glow radius, and number of spokes. The background uses residual hatches from the house mixed with a delicate blue gradation (Mmmmm). Finally the image is baked: Raytrace on High for 8.5 minutes. The computer takes all the individual ingredients into consideration and viola!
