Title Defence Boosted
Chester 1 have enflicted a heavy defeat over Chester 2 as they continue in their bid to retain the Chester & District League Title.
Relegation contenders Chester 2 were always going to be the underdogs, and this was reflected as Chester 1 cruised to an easy 4½ - ½ victory.
Chester 2's only point came from Gareth Edwards, returning from his Cyprus holiday home, who managed to draw with Tim Everrett. Edwards aggressively attacked Everrett's Kings Indian set up, but Everrett defended well and the two players decided to call it a draw. Meanwhile on the other boards, Chris Doran, Matthew Demmon, David Bryan and Graham Bromley were victors for Chester 1.
Elsewhere, league leaders Caergw-
-rle 1 held fellow contenders Colwyn Bay/Llandudno 1 to a draw, a great boost for Chester.

Third Team Impress Again.
The Wirral League team Chester 3's impressive season continues as they defeated Buckley/Mold 3½ - 1½. The victory was impressive as the team were outgraded on almost all boards.
Paul Harnett gained the first victory on board one with a good victory over Andrew Barber. John Sutcliffe then made it two nil with his win over Gordon Sommerville.
Captain Harry Bullard drew with Quentin Dodd while Ian Clayton scored an impressive victory over Brian Lowens. Buckley/Mold's only victory came on board five, with Bill Davies defeating Colin White.
The third team have been doing well this season despite the loss of former captain Steve Lloyd and players such as Ryland Morris and Volfango Rizzi. New captain Harry Bullard's reign as captain has so far produced three wins from four games.

Shock Win For Two
Wirral League team Chester 2 have produced a shock 3-2 home victory over title hopefuls Caergwrle 1.
Chester took an initial lead after former Club President Geoff Townsend, normally a third division player, scored an impressive win over Caergrwle captain Nick Maung.
Caergwrle's Edwin Livesey then equalised for the visitors, defeating the late arriving Gareth Edwards on b-
-oard three. What followed were three exciting games which all went the distance.
In the end, victories for Tim Everrett and captain Joe Nemcek were enough to give victory. What was even more impressive about this victory was the fact that Chester 2 were outgraded by at least twenty points on every board.
This defeat almost certainly ends any hope Caergwrle had of winning the Wirral League this season, having already dropped 2½ points in a tough league where teams only each other once, while defending champions Chester 1 are yet to drop any points.
This leaves Wirral League giants Wallasey 1 as the only likely contender Chester 1's Wirral League crown, although Wallasey, who have dominated Continued on page 2
