About The Club

Chester Chess Club was originally formed in the late 19th Century and ran up until the First World War before becoming Chester YMCA. Chester YMCA were one of the founding members and are one of the most successful clubs of the Chester & District League. In 2004 the club split from the YMCA and became Chester Chess Club once more.

Chester Chess Club is currently the largest club in league and operate a total of 5 teams across the 3 divisions

The Venue

The Town Crier, Home of Chester Chess Club

Chester Chess Club play in a function room located upstairs at the Town Crier pub, opposite the Chester railway station. As it is a pub, a range of hard and soft drinks are available plus tea and coffee.
