C.H. KEMP, AB, died 22nd March 1942, on the cruiser HMS Cleopatra. The ship was part of the escort force with Convoy MW10 from Alexandria when they met several ships of the Italian Navy and HMS Cleopatra sustained some damage in the ensuing battle

A. KENDALL, Petty Officer, on the Tug C.308, when it was sunk off Bahar ic Caghaq on 11th May 1942

 

L. KENNARD, Leading Cook (O), died 11th January 1941, on board the cruiser HMS Southampton. His ship was part of the escort for Convoy ‘MW5˝’ when it was attacked by German Ju-87 dive-bombers from Sicily. She received direct hits, amongst others on the Wardroom and the Petty Officer Mess, fires raged out of control, and she had to be abandoned. Survivors were taken on board the Cruiser HMS Gloucester and the destroyer HMS Diamond

 

T.M.H. KENNY, OD, died 22nd March 1942, on the cruiser HMS Cleopatra. The ship was part of the escort force with Convoy MW10 from Alexandria when they met several ships of the Italian Navy and HMS Cleopatra sustained some damage in the ensuing battle

Patrick KEOPANE, Chief Airman, Royal Navy, married 11th December 1948, to Doris SAKELLAIDIS

 

C.B. KER, Midshipman, died 12th August 1942, on board the cruiser HMS Nigeria. As part of the escort to the ‘Pedestal’ Convoy, the ship came under attack from Italian and German aircraft during the day, but at dusk was hit by torpedoes fired by the Italian submarine Axum, and sustained damage, causing her to return to Gibraltar

Keith KERR, aged 22 years, bachelor, AB, HMS Leverton, the son of William Isaac Kerr, married 5th March 1966 to, Gloria Jean BYWATER, aged 21 years, spinster, the daughter of Frederick Archibald Bywater. This Marriage took place in St.Michael’s and All Angels Royal Navy Chapel HMS St.Angelo

Dorothy Alice KESLAKE aged 22 years, spinster, Leading Wren, Women’s Royal Naval Service, the daughter of William Walter Stanley Keslake, married 2nd February 1952, to Ronald DANIEL, aged 25 years, bachelor, Chief Petty Officer, R.N., HMS Falcon, the son of Edgar Charles Arthur Daniel

 

A.F. KETT, Petty Officer Steward, HMS Welshman, died 1st February 1943. The ship was proceeding to Alexandria when it was torpedoed by the German U-boat U-617, and sank after three hours with the loss of over 150 Royal Navy officers and men, plus a number of soldiers and airmen who were also on board

 

I.W. KEY, EA, died 23rd July 1941, on board the cruiser HMS Manchester. His ship was part of the escort of Operation ‘Substance’ a Convoy from Gibraltar, when it was hit by torpedoes fired by the Italian E-boats Nos. 16 and 22. An oil fuel tank was hit and the adjacent compartments flooded, also her engines were damaged, so she returned to Gibraltar

Leslie George KILL, aged 24 years, bachelor, Able Seaman, HMS St.Angelo, the son of Robert James Kill, married 12th June 1937 to Margaret Morris Lowe SHADE, aged 21 years, spinster, from Fratton, Portsmouth, the daughter of James Shade

 

W.A. KINCH, Petty Officer, died 16th April 1943, on board the destroyer HMS Pakenham, off the island of Pantellaria. His ship together with HMS Paladin engaged two Italian Navy destroyers, Cassiopea and Cigno. The latter was sunk but HMS Pakenham sustained serious damage and though taken in tow had to be sunk after an air attack

 

June Margaret KINGSLEY ROWE, the daughter of Charles Alfred and Marie Irvine Kingsley Rowe, Sacred Heart Avenue, St.Julians, Lieut-Commander, R.N., born 25th June 1938

 

J.C.K.M. KINSMAN, Lieutenant, died 15th June 1942, on board the destroyer HMS Airedale. His ship was part of the escort for the Convoy ‘Vigorous’ from Alexandria, protecting eleven merchant ships. During the afternoon of the 15th the Convoy was attacked by German dive-bombers, and no less than twelve aircraft targeted HMS Airedale, and left it a smouldering wreck. The after end was completely gone and it is believed that her own ammunition or depth charge store had exploded

Steward C. KIRBY, on board the destroyer HMS Gurkha, died 17th January 1942, when his ship was sunk by the German U-Boat U-133 off the Libyan coast

F.H. KNOWLES, AB, died 10th January 1941, on board the destroyer HMS Gallant, which was escorting a Convoy, when it struck a mine that shattered the ship’s bows. Over 60 men were killed and another 25 injured. The ship was irreparably damaged but towed into Grand Harbour and beached beneath Crucifix Hill

 

Michael Charles KOESLER, the son of Elsie May and Lewis Charles Koesler, 76 Strada Ridolfo, Sliema, Royal Navy, born 13th February 1930

 

Married 19th November 1928, Lewis Charles KOESTER, aged 27 years, bachelor, Royal Navy Officer, HMS Royal Sovereign, the son of Frank Oscar Koester deceased, to Elsie May WIMMS, aged 24 years, spinster, of Leytonstone, Essex, the daughter of Joseph Henry Wimms
