A Letter from the Manse
December 2005
Dear Friends,
Christmas Banner
This year we have a Christmas banner to go underneath our popular nativity scene at the front of the church. The nativity scene attracts a great deal of attention from young and old alike. In adding a banner we are able to tell the Christmas story in picture form. It also wishes a “Merry Christmas” to all who pass by, as well as offering them a welcome to our Christmas worship.
On the 17th of December you are invited to join the Fellowship of Kilmarnock Churches for “Carols at the Cross”. On the 18th we will have our popular Nativity service. On Monday the 19th you can join Gargieston Primary in the church at 7pm for their Carol Service. On Wednesday the 21st the Kilwinning Amateur Prize Flute Band Carol Concert will take place in church. Then on Christmas Eve we will welcome Christmas morning with a selection of carols and readings at our watch-night service. With Christmas falling on a Sunday this year we will have an opportunity of gathering for All Age Worship to celebrate the birth of our Lord.
Impact World Tour
I am delighted to report that “Impact World Tour” will be coming to Kilmarnock next year. This is an exciting and innovative way of presenting the gospel to all ages. It has proved to be a very successful way of reaching people, especially those who would never dream of going near the church. St Marnock’s will be supporting this outreach and we will hear more about it in the New Year when a representative from IWT will come and share their story with us at one of our Sunday services.
Parish Christmas Card
This year as part of our collaboration with the South & East Kilmarnock Pastoral Partnership, we were able to get Christmas cards professionally printed. This card has a photograph of the seven churches of the Partnership on the front, and details of our Christmas worship inside.
Our intention is to deliver a card to every home in our parish and I am sure this will prove to be a very effective way of connecting with people. There should be some spare cards and you are welcome to take a few and pass them on.
I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and wish you God’s blessing for the 2006.
Your minister, Jim McNaughtan
