At the time of the 1901 Census, he and Ann lived at 1, Victoria Cottages, Belvedere, Kent with William, a widower, and his children, William and James.

He married, between 1 July and 30 September 1890, in the Woolwich registration district; Amelia DUNCOMBE (GRO index of marriages volume 1d page 1777).  They had children: William, Herbert, James and Edward.

 

At the time of the 1891 Census, he and Amelia lived in Plumstead, Kent.

Born c. 1832 at Dartford, Kent, he married Elizabeth, possibly LAWRENCE, between January and March 1850.

 

At the time of the 1861 Census, he lived at Waterside, Dartford, Kent and worked as a coal porter.  Elizabeth appears to have been born at Dartford, Kent c. 1833.  There is no trace of him in the 1871 Census.  At the time of the 1881 Census, Elizabeth worked as a rag sorter at a paper mill.  Children were: Charlotte, John, Emma, Edward, George and Ellen.

 

There is a death of an Elizabeth CURD, aged 69 years, recorded at Dartford in the December quarter 1899.

At the time of the 1851 Census, he lived at St Ronan’s Hill, Dartford, Kent with his wife, Eliza, and their children: James, Eliza, Rosetta, and Emma.

 

At the time of the 1871 Census, he lived at 19, Overy Street, Dartford, Kent with his daughter, Emma, his daughter-in-law, Mary JOHNSON, and his grandchildren: Jane BARTON, William DALTON and Mary DALTON.  John RYNE, aged 14 years, from Ireland, also lived with them as a boarder.

 

At the time of the 1881 Census, he lived at 19, Overy Street, Dartford, Kent with Emma, William, Mary, and Martha GOLDSMITH.  Christiana HAZELDEN, aged 14 years, from Dartford, Kent, lived with them as a boarder.

At the time of the 1861 Census, she lived at 11, Albion Place, Exeter, Devon with James and her niece, Rosetta.

James WALLIS (1792 – 162)

 

He was born at St Pancras, Middlesex.

 

He served in the Royal Navy, reaching the rank of lieutenant.  In both the 1851 Census and the 1861 Census, he is recorded as being on half-pay although the latter states that he was retired.

 

Hannah DALTON (1798 – 1831)

 

She was baptised, on 14 January 1798, at Sutton-at-Hone, Kent.  She died, 10 January 1831, also at Sutton-at-Hone and was buried, 15 January 1831.

Thomas DALTON (1815 – 1892)

 

He was born at Higham, Kent.

 

At the time of the 1841 Census, he lived at Shorne Ridgeway, Kent with his wife, Mary, and their children: Elizabeth, aged 4 years; and Eliza, aged 10 months.

 

Embarkation order 5256 for the ship “Emily”, which arrived at Port Adelaide, Australia, on 8 August 1849, showed he had two more daughters: Charlotte, aged 3 years; and Emma, aged 1 year.  He farmed at Balaklava, South Australia.

 

He died, on 18 October 1892, at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Adelaide, South Australia.  He died of cerebral embolism and pneumonia.  At the time of his death, he lived at Langhome Creek, South Australia.

Robert John DALTON (1818 – 1891)

 

He was baptised, on 27 September 1818, at St Mary’s church, Higham, Kent.  He married, in 1846, Sarah RELPH and they had children: Sarah, Eliza, Robert, and Emma.

 

At the time of the 1851 Census, he lived at Gore Green, Higham, Kent and worked as an agricultural labourer.  He lived there with his wife, Sarah and their children: Sarah and Eliza.  Also living there were three visitors: James GREENFIELD, James SMITH and Joseph SMITH.

 

At the time of the 1861 Census, he lived at Gore Green, Higham, Kent and worked as an agricultural labourer.  He lived there with his wife, Sarah and their children: Sarah, Eliza, Robert and Emma.

 

At the time of the 1871 Census, he lived at Gore Green, Higham, Kent and worked as an agricultural labourer.  He lived there with his wife, Sarah and their daughter, Sarah.  Also living there was his niece, Paula RELF (sic), aged 3 years.

 

At the time of the 1881 Census, he lived at Gore Green, Higham, Kent and worked as an agricultural labourer.  He lived there with his wife, Sarah and their daughter, Sarah. 

 

At the time of the 1891 Census, he lived at Gore Green, Higham, Kent and worked as an agricultural labourer.  He lived there with his wife, Sarah and their daughter, Sarah, and their son, Robert.

 

He died, in December 1891, at Higham, Kent.

She was baptised, on 22 November 1818, at Swanscombe, Kent, the daughter of Thomas RELPH and Judith.  She died, December 1899, at Higham, Kent.

 

James DALTON (1823 – 1899)

 

He was baptised, on 7 December 1823, at Higham, Kent.  He married, in 1847, Jane LONGHURST and they had a son: James, plus three other sons and eight daughters, whose names we do not know (from an account of his life in Australia, which does not name anyone specifically.)

 

He arrived, on board the ship “Emily” at Port Adelaide, Australia, on 8 August 1849 with Jane and James.  He settled at Langhorne’s Creek, later joining the gold rush to Victoria.

 

He died, of inflammation of the lungs, on 16 May 1899.

At the time of the 1881 Census, he worked as a carpenter and he and his family lived at 2, Mount Pleasant Terrace, Dartford, Kent.  A transcript of the entry (RG11 0866/55 page 1) records Frederick’s wife as Mary E and her age as 32 years.  There is also reference to a daughter, Finch M E., aged 15 years

 

At the time of the 1891 Census he lived at Brickfield Cottage, Heath Street Dartford, Ken with Mary and children: Annie L, aged 16; Fannie G., aged 11; Fred Cannon, aged 9; James S., aged 7 and Ernest F, aged 5, who had all been born at Deptford, Kent.  Another daughter, Ellen E, aged 2, had been born in Dartford, Kent.

 

He died, on 20 March 1929, at 1, Bullace Lane, Dartford, Kent.  At the time of his death, he worked as a carpenter.  He was buried, on 25 March 1929, in grave 5 at the East Hill burial ground, Dartford, Kent (source: entry 14696 in the register of burials, 1918 -34)

At the time of the 1881 Census, when she worked as a needlewoman; and the 1901 Census, when she was taking parish relief, she lived at Balls Green, Great Bromley, Essex.
