I have traced my direct line back to the marriage of William GARTON and Hannah BLUFF in Cranford St Andrew
21 Dec 1768.
They had 10 children:

Hannah christened 3 July 1785, married John PATRICK 19 Nov 1804 in Cranford.
Sarah christened 16 Sept 1787, married William GREEN 20 Nov 1806 in Cranford.
William christened 1 Nov 1789, married Martha HOBBS 1 Oct 1813 in Cranford.
George christened 12 June 1791, married Mary LEE 12 Nov 1812 in Cranford.
Frances christened 11 Nov 1792, married John WILLIS 8 Oct 1812 in Cranford.
James christened 5 Jan 1794, burial 9 Jan 1794.

George and Annie had 7 children:

Maurice John GARTON & Betsy May DUFFIN, my parents, married in 1948.

In 1922 my grandfather Arthur Garton was involved in a strike whilst working on a potato farm in Pytchley, he and three other strikers were injured in an attack whilst they were "blacklegging" several cart loads of potatoes enroute to Northampton. A photo of the four men and a report of the incident appeared in the Northampton Independent on 7th January 1922. Click here to view the extract.
