VII – Orders of Removal to Moulton in 1795.

(1) 1795, July 1st.  Francis Turland and Jane his wife, whose lawful Settlements are in the Parish of Moulton, likely to be chargeable to the parish of Lamport, Northamptonshire.

    Given under the Hands and Seals of

(2) 1795, October 3rd.  Frances Steevenson, single woman of Moulton, actually chargeable to the parish of Kingsthorpe, in the County of Northampton.

    Given under the Hands and Seals of

                    L. Rokeby.

The following is a true copy of the Order granted for the removal of Frances Steevenson, single woman:

    “Northamptonshire              “To the Churchwardens and (to wit) Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Kingsthorpe in the said County, and to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Moulton in the same County and to each and every of them.

    “Upon the complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Kingsthorpe aforesaid in the said County of Northampton unto us, whose names are hereunto set, and seals affixed, being two of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Northampton and one of us of the Quorum, that Francis Steevenson singlewoman hath come to inhabit in the said Parish of Kingsthorpe not having gained a legal settlement there, nor produced any certificate, owning her to be settled elsewhere, and that the said Frances Steevenson is actually chargeable to the said Parish of Kingsthorpe.  We the said Justices, upon due Proof made thereof, as well as upon Examination of the said Frances Steevenson upon oath, as otherwise, and likewise upon due consideration had of the Premises, do adjudge the same to be true ; and we do likewise adjudge, that the lawful settlement of her the said Frances Steevenson is in the said parish of Moulton in the said County of Northampton.  We do therefore require you the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said parish of Kingsthorpe or some, or one of you, to convey the said Frances Steevenson from and out of your said parish of Kingsthorpe to the said parish o f Moulton and her to deliver to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or to some, or one of them, together with this our Order, or a true copy thereof:  And we do also hereby require you the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Moulton to receive and provide for her as an Inhabitant of your said parish – Given under our hands and Seals the third day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and ninety five.”
