Dosthill July 22nd & 23rd 2001

Darren was doing his Advanced Open water Course with Cardiff Bay this weekend so Louise and I decided to join them and do a few “pleasure dives”.

Decided to drop some weight for the first dive and ended up dropping too much. This resulted in me having to push myself down using the floating raft.

As we descended into the murk for the first dive it was obvious that the viz was not going to be as good as it looked from the surface, and we were the first divers in the water. Unfortunately this was repeated on every dive that we did over the weekend.

In good areas, (no deeper that 6 metres) the vis was an acceptable two to three metres. However once below this it dropped to zero to one metre.

So there is not much to say about any of the five dives that we did over the weekend, the viz was even terrible on the shallow shelf at the far end of the quarry. On the first day I couldn’t find the car, and on the second day I nearly swam into it before I saw it.

On the bright side Darren completed his AOW.
