Steyning Methodist Church:
District Youth Weekend 2001

WICKED WINDSOR 5th and 6th May

The annual London South-East District Youth Weekend was based at Windsor this year, held in a school under the Heathrow flight-path at Windsor, and with groups sleeping out in various Church Halls around the area.

Liz, Cathy and Rob repeated the previous years approach, borrowed the same people carrier and with their own two cars took 11 youngsters away for another wonderful weekend.

On the Saturday morning, we had loads of activities laid on at the School, which the youngsters could choose in advance, including volley-ball [at left], cookery [at right], and dance classes [below]. These were much appreciated and well attended.

On Saturday afternoon we all went to Legoland at Windsor [below], where we met the District Youth Coordinator (Rev Julian Albrow), hiding from the crowds and trying to get some peace beside the model of Windsor Castle. (Not with our lot around!) The kids thoroughly enjoyed being whirled round, soaked and shaken for the afternoon.

On the Sunday we joined in a large worship session in the School Hall, led by Julian. Following this we all disappeared off to Runnymede (site of the signing of Magna Carta by King John) where, true to form, the kids all joined in a massive game of football. After burning off the last of their energy, we all separated and headed for home.
