Speech and Language Therapists and other professionals
Therapy resources for working on dyslexia and aphasia following
stroke are limited and it is for this reason that these two treatment
resources were developed:
Reading Again
This is aimed primarily at providing the client who has dyslexia/aphasia
with a means of working independently through the use of audio
tapes and accompanying booklets. However, there will be many clients
who will benefit from using the programme but who will require
some level of assistance from a therapist or carer.
The material employs a higher than average use of high-frequency,
high-imageability, regularly spelled and content words. Cognitive
and syntactic demands are minimised. The print is visually manageable
through the use of a large, uncluttered font.
Letter-by-Letter Dyslexia:
a resource file and a case discussion
This file evolved from unusually intensive work with a letter-by-letter
reader. It is designed for use by speech and language therapists
working with clients who have the disorder. However, much of the
material has application to working with other types of acquired
dyslexias.
