Extracts from the review published in the Bulletin of the
Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, volume number
524, December 1995
"....... The use of audio tapes is a novel departure in this field,
but one which makes perfect sense considering the client group
in question...... The tapes have been professionaly recorded and
are clear and easy to understand. The overall standard of presentation
is excellent...... Useful general advice is also given regarding
how to manage reading problems. The texts have been carefully
selected to be functionally useful to people in everyday life
situations. I would regard this as a welcome addition to the range
of clinical tools available for use with acquired dyslexia......
...useful resource material for both clinicians and people with
dyslexia and dysphasia, in a format which is easily accessible
to all."
Carol Sacchet, Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, Kent.
From clients and carers:
"Dick and I are enjoying
Set One tapes very much indeed. We "work" 9.30 - 10.30 each morning.
I just can't thank you enough. The way he's forming his words
- and reading - is just amazing. We've re-capped lots of times
on each section, of course. I can tell that Dick is really enjoying
the sessions - and I know I am!"
Mrs. J.H. Harlech, Wales 1999

"My husband
was able to follow your instructions with ease and this gave him
considerable confidence. He used the tapes over and over again
and enjoyed using them. Quite often he preferred to use them by
himself and this was a bonus for both of us: R. was helping himself,
was not needing to rely on me and was receiving help from a therapist,
in our own home and at any convenient time. He improved during
the time he used the tapes."
Mrs. R.C. Hereford and Worcester, U.K. 1995

"We found Reading Again
an invaluable teaching aid. In an area where there is not a great
deal of information or material easily available to help a patient,
this course of teaching is great value for money. Anyone desperate
to regain the skills of reading and speech would welcome this
material."
Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Nottingham, U.K. 1999

"..…I cannot speak
too highly of the quite remarkable help they (the tapes and booklets)
have been to me… I cannot recommend this structured reading programme
too highly."
Mr.T.T., who was a hospital consultant, retired as a result
of a stroke following which he became a letter-by-letter reader.
Writing remained intact. T.T. is the patient discussed in
'Letter-by-Letter Dyslexia: a resource file and a case discussion'
by the same author. 1998

"I have used both sets
of Reading Again. It has helped my understanding of speech and
my reading. I had to really think and listen carefully. I played
the tapes a few times and then I could understand. Reading sentences
was just right. Paragraghs are too difficult, so it helped me
to get started reading again. I am using the tapes to work on
my writing as well."
Mr. I.J. Derby, U.K. 1999 - as described to his speech and
language therapist.
Testimonials from speech and language therapists
"…an excellent idea…a
most useful resource."
Ruth Coles, Director, Action for Dysphasic Adults (now Speakability),
London. 1995

"Since becoming
aware of the material I have included reference to it in my teaching
on written language to our speech and language therapy students.
I have also recommended it to several clinicians and patients…
The clarity of instructions and careful attention to presentation
speed should facilitate independent use which is one of the objectives
of the package. It is good to see this focus on the comprehension
of the written word."
Catherine Mackenzie, Course Director - B.Sc in Speech and
Language Pathology, University of Strathclyde. 1997 Advisor in
aphasia to the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

"Speech and language
therapists will certainly find this a useful resource, which can
be adapted in various ways."
Celia Woolf, City Dysphasic Groups, City University, London
(now Connect) .Extract from the Action for Dysphasic Adults (now
Speakability) newsletter, 'Speaking Up', in December 1995.

"I have purchased both
sets and found them invaluable."
Heather Taylor, MRCSLT, ASLTIP, Bolton. 1996

"Reading Again has
revolutionised my therapy. This is a most innovative, organised
aid for the busy speech and language therapist. There is excellent
modelling from the recording therapist. I have used the programme
in group work."
Monica Jacobson, Speech and Language Therapist, Pretoria,
South Africa. 1997

"The system is easy
to use and non intimidating. The material used is…relevant to
a wide audience."
Sue Bell, MRCSLT, ASLTIP, Basing, Hampshire. 1996
