Second 12" Out Now On LAZY!

The second Sugardog 12" has just been released on LAZY (distributed by LAZY and Nu Urban Music). This four track EP was mastered recently at Kinetic Mastering by Paul Solomon (Leftfield/Tipper/etc.) and is now ready for your 1210's. The track-listing is:

A1 - Me And You (click to listen)
Featuring John Lee Hooker, an old friend. Reminds you of ol' skool breakbeat house - but not a 4/4 kick in sight! Shit Kickers edit by Carim Clasmann. Previously unobtainable due to UK foot and mouth restrictions, this livestock has now been certified "safe" and is ready to spread it's filth all over dancefloors everywhere! Watch your step! (Note: This record was made before John Lee's recent death. We would like to offer our deepest respect to the man and his music and thank him for the many years of listening pleasure and inspiration he gave us.)

A2 - Untrue (Here Boy mix) (click to listen)
Here Boy mix in a "f*ck skool" stylee. Is this really post-millennial breakbeat juxtaposited between 2-Step and Electro? Who cares! Despite counselling, this will beat up your teacher when the bassline hits you!

AA1 - Medicine
"You are the pill for my fever and chill!" By strict definition, this is Drum n Bass, but there's nothing like this! This is the classic Sugardog 'good dog/bad dog' situation taking you on a journey from beauty to disease, through a parallel dimension. It occupies unfamiliar territory, but welcomes the listener like an old friend. Just mind those teeth!

AA - Untrue
This is the original Sugardog mix. This just ejaculates from the speaker and washes you with bass. Gila sings "Is this untrue?" and you want to shake her, yelling "True! True!" If it really exists, this is 'Stadium Jungle' - destined for massive sound systems in massive spaces. Massive.

Release Date : July 23 2001
Cat. No: LAZY2

Promo runs have been very encouraging with good DJ support: Andy Weatherall again ("Here Boy mix - f*ucking wicked! I love the bass on that!"), Ali B, Mr Scruff, amongst others and is being played at Certificate 18, Chew The Fat, NY Sushi, Capital FM (Ali B show), LondonLive (Fink), amongst others.

LAZY recently hooked up with distributors Nu Urban Music, who have information on where the 12" is available. You can also contact LAZY or Sugardog to buy directly or for more information.

Sugardog LIVE!

Sugardog recently played a low-key live PA at Sympático, a wicked party at a riverside location in Woolwich, London. We played a short, 3 song PA, performing a live version of Untrue (Here Boy remix), and debuting two new tunes: Lava Flow, a deep house jam and Catapult, a drum n bass stone, fired with elastic.

The only live act, we played with DJs including Robbie Charles, our own Sugar T (blinding set, Tim!), and E. Wolfe ("brutal with the millimetre"). Coming on just before 1am, we transformed a 'just about to dance' crowd into a 'just you try and get me off the dancefloor' crowd and for the rest of the night we were greeted on the dancefloor by comments of: "wicked, wicked", so we reckon it went down well... <grin>

After this performance (our first with new material) there has been talk of arranging more dates. If you would like to be informed of any live gigs (or Sugar T sets) please e-mail Sugardog and we'll let you know.

Nuff Said...

So that's enough news from Sugardog. I didn't mention the coming reviews and features on the band or the planned live shows. Watch this space for details! You can join our extensive mailing-list and get news about the band directly e-mailed to you if you click here.

Previous 12" - Little Devils/Radio (LAZY1)

We have been bowled over by the support and initial sales we've had for our first release on LAZY - "Little Devils". A large thank you to anybody reading this who's bought the record, or helped us in any way! You know who you are. Cheers!

With low-key promotion through Waxworks (big shout to Aidan Byrne!) and LAZY (Paul H is THE man), the record has slowly been filtering through and we've picked up some solid support on the way. A shit-kickin review on the massive UK DotMusic website scored us 5/5. They've included a downloadable audio file of "Little Devils" with the review. We were hoping it would turn up all over Napster, but unfortunately the big fat frightened US record companies have scuppered that plan! For a while... hehe.

If you're having trouble finding the 12" (Woolworth's are probably out of stock by now), you can now buy it online at the excellent Bi-Wire and Rough Trade. Alternatively, you could e-mail Sugardog or LAZY directly and we will tell you where it's stocked, or sell you a copy ourselves for a very realistic price!
