Todays Squad
James Downey, Martin Fitzsimons,  Adam Williams, James Handley, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan,  Scott Armstrong, Nathan Thorpe, Dane Ball, Barney Huxtable, Matthew Darlington, James Withe, Chris Stubbs, Sean Record, Matt Franks
Scorers: Dan Ball 2,  Matt Darlington 1, Own Goal
Todays MOM:  Ryan Wan
Report: 15 players again today, Wanderers started with nice football going close several times before a pin point cross from Ryan Wan was latched onto by Dan Ball.  It was Dan Ball again for Tarporleys second and an unfortunate own goal for the 3rd. Nantwich then got themselves into the game and had a couple of chances they should have scored from but half time  Wanderers went in 3-0 to the good.
Second half Nantwich now had the breeze in there favour and continued to work hard to get into the game scoring a well deserved goal. This kick started Tarporley who netted a fourth from a Matty Darlington strike.  his took the wind out of Nantwich sails a bit and the game continued to a conclusion with no further goals.
Managers Comments: A game that started well but faded a little, overall a workman like performance with the task well done.

Managers Comments: A real shame the game was not played but I have to confess very happy to have the points added to our seasons tally

Sunday 18th April 2010  Home to Witaston
Todays Squad
James Downey, James Withe, Chris Stubbs, Martin Fitzsimons, Sean Record, Adam Williams, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan,  Barney Huxtable, Dan Ball, Jamie Ball, Nathan Thorpe, James Handley, Matthew Darlington
Scorers: Barney Huxtable 3,  Matt Darlington 1, James Withe 1, James Handley 1, Chris Stubbs 1, Sean Record
Todays MOM:  Barney Huxtable
Report: 14 players again today so again well placed. Wanderers started sharply Barney netting in the opening 2 minutes. Goals came easy today for a variety of players with Wanderes coasting to a 6-0 lead at half time.
Second half the game followed a similar pattern of play but the determined and well disciplined side stuck at there task and did mange a penalty and a good goal but Wanderers scored another 3 to give a final score of 9-2
Managers Comments: A game that was won early, outstanding performance from Barney today but also additional skills in the game from Matty Darlington turning goal provider not goal scorer. The other thing to note from today is that all outfield players have scored this season another 1st for Wanderers.  Overall a good performance and again the team was well worth the result

Sunday 11th April 2010  Away to Witaston
Todays Squad
James Withe, Chris Stubbs, Martin Fitzsimons, Sean Record, Adam Williams, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan, Scott Armstrong,  Barney Huxtable,  Matt Franks, Dan Ball, Jamie Ball, Nathan Thorpe, James Handley
Scorers: Scott Armstrong 3,  Adam Williams 1, Nathan Thorpe 1, Matt Franks 1, Ryan Wan 1,
Todays MOM:  Ryan Wan Adam Williams
Report: With a squad of 14 we were well placed compared to the previous weeks. Wanderers started sharply going close a few times before going behind to a wonder free kick from Wistaston. This stirred up Wanderer and they were quickly on level terms when Adam Williams nodded in a Ryan Wan free kick.  The ball found its way into the net from Jamie Ball, Scott Armstrong and Barney Huxtable but all rules out.  A push from a corner resulted in a penalty which was converted by Scott Armstrong.  The score remained at 2-1 thanks to a quality save from Withy, half time came and we were in front 2-1
Second half Wanderers picked up the game a header from James Handley struck the bar and was bundled over the line by Scott Armstrong, this was then added to by Ryan Wan who outclassed  the defence to slip one passed the keeper.  A third from Scott Armstrong and first goals of the season for Matt Franks and the hard working Nathan Thorpe saw the final score 7-1 in favour of Wanderers.
Managers Comments: A game we struggled to get hold of but once in control our football was quality, great to see Nathan and Matt net for the 1st time this season.  We coped today with a smaller pitch, the opposition tried to play football and could have scored a couple of others but we could have also scored a lot more.  Overall a good performance and the team was well worth the result

Sunday 28th March 2010  Home to Holmes Chapel Hurricanes
Todays Squad
James Downey, Martin Fitzsimons, Sean Record, Adam Williams, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan, Scott Armstrong,  Barney Huxtable,  Matt Franks, Dan Ball, Jamie Ball, Matty Darlington
Scorers: Matty Darlington 4,  Ryan Wan 2,
Todays MOM:  Team award, so many good points today from all players
Report: The squad was 12 in number today as were our opposition. The first opportunity fell to Holmes Chapel with Barney Huxtable heading off his own line and a follow up shot straight into the hands of James Downey.  At the opposite end Matt Darlington finished a difficult chance for us to take the lead.  This was quickly added to by Ryan Wan and a second from Matty Darlington.  Wanderers were now coasting and playing quality football with some very sharp 1-2's.  Despite some more chances there were no more goals in this half..
Second half Wanderers picked up were they left off and another 2 from Matty Darlington and a second for Ryan put the game well beyond Holmes Chapel.  Though Holmes Chapel did have chances lady luck was with us and combing this with some good saves resilient defending our clean sheet was maintained.
Managers Comments: A much sharper performance today, the threat in front of goal and netting early allowed us to play football and when we do this we are difficult to beat. A good all round performance today with no one falling short of the expected standard, top class

Sunday 21st March 2010  Home to Ruskin League
Todays Squad
James Withe, Martin Fitzsimons, James Handley, Adam Williams, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan, Scott Armstrong,  Barney Huxtable,  Matt Franks, Chris Stubbs, Nath Thorpe
Scorers: Martin Fitzsimons 2,  Jams Handley 1,
Todays MOM:  Martin Fitzsimons, Scott Armstrong
Report: The squad was 11 in number with Barney playing injured and James Withe taking up the keepers position.  Wanderers started slowley against a much improved Ruskin side who were now playing as an organised team. The first 15 minutes was close but Tarporley began to apply pressure spending longer periods in the Ruskin half.  The deadlock finally broken when Handley looped a header over the Ruskin keeper.  Despite more chances no further goals for Tarporley.  At the other end there were two frantic goal mouth scrambles that we managed to steer away but went in at half time 1-0 to the good.
Second half Wanderers were more in control but Ruskin were resilient taking another 25 minutes to break them down for a second time, Again it was a corner that was converted this time by Martin Fitzsimons who added a second from a similar circumstance 5 minutes later
Managers Comments: A game we were lucky to get away with, great credit to the lads that were available today but we were lean.  A great second half from Scot A again, big thank to Barney and Withy for there commitment to the cause.  Good work rate from Nathan as always, good show of persistence and effort from Fitzy as indeed from the whole back 4. Another valuable 3 points well done boys

Sunday 14th March 2010  Home to Crewe Terriers League
Todays Squad
James Downey, Martin Fitzsimons, James Handley, Adam Williams, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan, Scott Armstrong,  Dan Ball,  Barney Huxtable,  Jamie Ball, James Withe, Matt Franks,
Scorers: Dan Ball  1,  Scott Armstrong 1, Jamie Ball 1
Todays MOM:  Team see managers comments
Report: The squad back down to 12 this week, the pitch was fair but the wind was troublesome.  Wanderers played with the wind in the 1st half and fell into the trap of playing a long ball, Crewe however were playing a high quality passing game and took the lead on 20 minutes.  This was the injection of venom Wanderers needed and the football came more constructive and created a series of chances before Dan Ball leveled the score
The second half  Wanderers started the charge and again created a string of opportunities before Scot Armstrong forced over for Wanderers to take the lead.  Tarporley could not take advantage of the short period of dominance and gradually Crewe got back into the game and started to apply the pressure.  Again there football was good, Wanderers were digging deep and with a couple of minutes to go a Jamie Ball strike put the game beyond Crewe
Managers Comments: A game of mixed fortune today, whilst we created a string of chances, the quality of Crewe meant they were always in with a chance right up to the third goal. Why team for MOM, there were excellent 2nd halves from Scot A, and James Withe, Dan B and Fitzy played well throughout but could have done better vocally, Jamie B worked very hard  but we failed to capatilise, Bryan Adam and Handley steady without setting the world alight, Barney stretched Crewe but had to come off with injury, Ryan showed his skills at will but again we need to ensure delivery of final product.  We need to start from the 1st minute next week

Sunday 7th March 2010  Away to Crewe Terriers Cup
Todays Squad
James Downey, Martin Fitzsimons, James Handley, Adam Williams, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan, Scott Armstrong, Nathan Thorpe, Dan Ball,  Barney Huxtable, Matty Darlington, Jamie Ball, James Withe,Chris Stubbs, Matt Franks, Sean Record,
Scorers: Matty Darlington  2,  Barney Huxtable 1
Todays MOM:  Bryan Wright, Martin Fizsimons
Report: The first time this season a full squad available, our opposition one of the best footballing sides in the league.  The games started at half pace with Wanderers just having the edge.  Terriers however were resilient and stuck at there task often stretching the back 4. Narrow misses and goal line clearances were the order of the 1st half with Wanderers going close but not breaking the deadlock.  The break through looked to have come from a good strike from Scott A but there was a save to match, a call fro a penalty or two both denied.  At the other end there was also the odd moment with Terriers stretching the back four but denied by last minute tackles
The second half  started the same a few sloppy balls and a good strike from Terriers saw Tarporley go behind.  A second golden opportunity was blasted over the bar and Wanderers began to work there way back into the game.  Not the greatest strike from Matt Darlington, but one we were all happy with finally breached Terriers defence. This was added to when Barney Huxtable put us in the lead and finshed off when Matt Darlington added his second
Managers Comments: Not at our best today, but in fairness a fire in our bellies dragged this one out of nowhere against a good quality footballing Terriers side. We will need to kick on from this to continue this run off results.

Sunday 7th February 2010  Away to Cheshire Blades League
Todays Squad
James Downey, Martin Fitzsimons, James Handley, Adam Williams, Bryan Wright, James Withe, Scott Armstrong, Nathan Thorpe, Dan Ball,  Barney Huxtable, Matty Darlington, Chris Stubbs, Matt Franks, Sean Record, Ryan Wan
Scorers: Dan Ball 1, Matty Darlington  2,  Barney Huxtable 1
Todays MOM:  Adam Williams, Matty Darlington
Report: Having been stretched for players due to exams today we were almost at full compliment, this making the starting 11 a difficult choice for the manager.  Wanderers were slow starting today on a difficult pitch and an inspired Blades were up for a game, both sides canceling out each other and making mistakes with there passing.  The introduction of Ryan Wan for Wanderers changed our shape and we took control of the game. Matty Darlington opening the scoring and Barney Huxtable adding a second shortly after.  Wanderers enjoyed the remainder of the half stretching Blades on a number of occasions
The opening of the second half saw it fall apart a little, we picked up a couple of bookings and conceded all in the first 10 minutes.  Slowly we worked our way back into the game and it was Matty Darlington chasing waste causes that made a block and he then pounced on the free ball rounding the keeper and slotting home from a very tight angle. A fourth from Dan Ball put the game beyond the resilient hard work Blades, but even then there was more drama to come with another booking.
Managers Comments: Not pretty in terms of football, today's game  demanded a result that needed grinding out and that what we did.  The introduction of Ryan Wan changed our shape and Matty Darlingtons second goal (a absolute peach) were highlights along with another 3 points. Well done boys.

Sunday 24th January 2010  Away to Ruskin League
Todays Squad
James Downey, Chris Stubbs, James Handley, Adam Williams, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan, Scott Armstrong, Martin Fitzsimons, Dan Ball,  James Withe,
Scorers: Dan Ball 3, Ryan Wan 2, Bryan Wright 2, James Withe1, James Handley, Scott Armstrong 1 Barney Huxtable 1
Todays MOM:  Dan Ball
Report: Today's game was a the first game after a long break and Wanderers were stretched in squad numbers having the bare 11.  A wet Sunday and no ref didn't help but with Matt Williams in the middle the game started.  Barney came close in the opening minutes being denied by the post but it was James Withe that opened up the scoring this was quickly followed by a truly terrific strike from Dan Ball who looked up to see the keeper off his line and delivered a great shot from almost half way clean in to the net.  Things went quiet for a while then Scott  slammed home a third, Bryan Wright added a fourth.  The final goal of the half was another notch for Dan Ball who pounced on a great cross to the back post from James Withe.
In the second half a the game followed a similar pattern but this half it was Ryan Wan to score the quality goals the first a great strike curing in at the far post no chance for the keeper and the second a top class free kick, any other day either of these would have been goal of the game. A third for Dan Ball and a second for Bryan Wright plus another from James Handley gave Wanderers there highest score to date with 11 goals.  Credit to James Downey though who pulled of two great saves to keep a clean sheet in the last 10 minutes of the game
Managers Comments: Not a classic, pitch and opposition not easy to play but a great deal of credit to you all on how you conducted yourselves and another valuable 3 points.

Sunday 13th December  Home to Holmes Chapel League
Todays Squad
James Downey, Martin Fitzsimons, James Handley, Adam Williams, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan, Scott Armstrong,  Dan Ball, Jamie Ball, Matt Franks, Matty Darlington, James Withe, Chris Stubbs
Scorers: Matty Darlington 3, Martin Fitzsimos 1
Todays MOM:  Team Award, notable performances from a number of players, all the back 4 on good form, Scott A and Jamie B in midfield and Matty Darlington leading the line
Report: Today's game was a top of the table clash with both teams unbeaten in the league, same games played and had the same points, both teams with 13 players.  An even opening 5 minutes when a through ball stacked in the favour of Holmes Chapel , but it was dealt with to casually and a hard running Matty Darlington closed it down and capitised from the rebound to open up the scoring. Some more chances came but a lot of the game was in midfield. A set piece was delivered in to the box, James Handley chased it down and delivered a hard cross on the turn,  Fitzy pounced on this to double the lead. With about 5 minutes of the half left Matty Darlington looked to have got the drop on the defender but was fetched down, Holmes Chapel now reduced to 10 but a 2-0 lead at half time
In the second half a very competitive Holmes Chapel side made it difficult for Wanderers, a couple of good opportunities were denied by the very inform keeper of Holmes Chapel, the game was made safe when Matty Darlington added his second and then third to finish the game 4-0
Managers Comments: Another good performance with many players in good form.  We currently have a good balance of conviction, skill and strength but have to continue at this level to achieve.  But well done today boys.

Sunday 6th December  Home to Nantwich District cup
Todays Squad
James Downey, Martin Fitzsimons, James Handley, Adam Williams, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan, Scott Armstrong,  Dan Ball, Matty Darlington, Barney Huxtable, Jamie Ball,  Sean Record, Matt Franks, James Withe
Scorers: Matty Darlington 2, Scott Armstrong  1
Todays MOM:  Jamie Ball
Report: Todays game had been switched to Nantwich Towns 3G in order to get the games played.  The opposition was also a step up normally plying its wares in the North West Youth Alliance league facing opposition such as Staylybridge, Curson Ashton and FC United of Manchester, today they had to deal with Tarporley.  A very even opening 20 minutes with good football being played before Nantwich were awarded a penalty.  Tarporley were not giving this one up though and stuck at there task leveling on 35 minutes with a Matty Darlington strike, half time 1-1
In the second half Wanderers took the lead from another Matty Darlington strike, again this was pulled back by a second penalty.  Wanderers went back into the lead from a Scott Armstrong free kick, a good strike from Nantwich leveled the score and a final goal deep into injury time saw Wanderers loose out by 4 goals to 3
Managers Comments: A fantastic performance today throughout the team, a couple of injuries didn't help our cause but lots more positives from this game than most.  Scott Armstrong produced one of his best of the season and pushed Jamie B very close for MOM as indeed did Barney Huxtable, a key element to a good performance is a hard working midfield which we had today.  Defensively we were strong against good forwards and up front we scored goals against good opposition all in all a great game to be part of well done all

Sunday 22nd November  Away to Waverton League
Todays Squad
James Downey, Martin Fitzsimons, James Handley, Adam Williams, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan, Scott Armstrong, Nathan Thorpe, Dan Ball, Matty Darlington, Barney Huxtable, Jamie Ball,  Sean Record, Chris Stubbs, Matt Franks, James Withe
Scorers: Adam Williams 1, Dan Ball 1
Todays MOM:  Adam Williams
Report: For the first time this season we had a full squad available ad every tough decisions for the management. Wanderers were against the wind in the 1st half and struggled t o get forward much.  Defensively we did very well and the forwards made it as hard as possible, with possibly the best chance of the half falling to Tarporley.  A tough challenging half resulted in both teams being all square at half time
In the second half Wanderers were in the driving seat and creating the better chances, a few great saves and goal line clearances came and went without any joy.  It was Waverton who struck first with a sharp finish from a potential off side position, but credit to the player it was a good finish.  Tarporley were rattled and needed to settle back into the game which they did, chances were being created and Adam Williams latching onto a long free kick and leveling the score changed the game.  Tarporley were now back in control and took the lead from another Matt Franks free kick this time converted by a Dan Ball header.  Wanderers had  more chances to seal this victory but ran out 2-1 winners
Managers Comments: A selection dilemma today with a full squad available, those not getting time today please accept my apologies, but you are all as important to this club as each other.  It relatively easy for a team to win a game but a squad to win over a season.  My selection today was based on a chosen formation and the opposition it doesn't mean this will be my choice in another week.  The performance today was not polished but was a result that was ground out, often the most difficult to get a result from, well done boys

Sunday 8th November  Away to Cheshire Blades Eagles District Cup
Todays Squad
James Downey, Martin Fitzsimons, James Handley, Adam Williams, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan, Scott Armstrong, Nathan Thorpe, Dan Ball, Jamie Ball, Matty Darlington, Sean Record, Chris Stubbs, Matt Franks,
Scorers: Matty Darlington 4, Scott Armstrong 1, Dan Ball 1
Todays MOM:  Dan Ball
Report: Following the last game there was selection challenges for the management this week, this was eased with the non availability of inform Huxtable and Withe.  Wanderers started brightly and created the best of the early chances. Matty Darlington squeezing opener on 15 minutes.  Some high quality football was being played and Blades were slightly frustrated by the industrious midfield who blocked out so much or forcing the ball to run for the back four to mop up. It took another 20 minutes before the second goal came this time the ball agonisingly crossed the box one way before being knocked back fro Scott Armstrong to slot home.  Half time a 2-0 lead but a game that Blades were still in
In the second half Wanderers kicked on and within 5 minutes a good Matty Darlington strike put Wanderers 3 up.  Now a bit more comfortable the quality of football also picked up, superb linking play from Ryan and Dan in the wide positions.  Tarporley opened the game up a bit more and chances started to open up, Matty Darlington sliding in at the back post for his hat trick, Blades hit back with a great strike for a concellation goal, also coming close on a second occasion. However it was Tarporley who finished strongest with a fourth from Matty Darlington and a well deserved goal for Dan Ball
Managers Comments: Continued where we finished last week, a great performance from midfield for me, a great combination of lovely skills and determination.  The fifth goal being the casing point, the game was played from defence, switched from side to side, hit the lines and a strong cross with a striker coming in late and quick, all without blades getting a touch. That said we shouldn't underestimate our man in goal, staying focused, quick of his line and now collecting well from crosses

Sunday 25th October  Away to Crewe Terriers U17/18 League
Todays Squad
James Downey, Sean Record, James Handley, Bryan Wright, James Withe, Scott Armstrong, Nathan Thorpe, Matt Franks, Dan Ball, Jamie Ball, Barney Huxtable,
Scorers: Scott Armstrong 2, Barney Huxtable  3
Todays MOM:  Scott Armstrong
Report: A very stretched squad again today due to injuries, suspensions, illness and holidays but we had a solid 11 available. Another good start from Tarporley creating well against the difficult wind on a great pitch. Barney Huxtable opened up the scoring and several other good chances came without Crewe stretching Tarporley.  Not finishing gave Crewe some confidence and they came at Tarporley for the last 20 minutes of the first half it required some good saves from James Downey and a goal line clearance but we managed to see it out until half time, half time 1-0 to Wanderers.
In the second half Wanderers weathered the opening 5 minutes but with the wind now in our favour it was a Scott Armstrong run that resulted in him being fetched down in the box.  Scott dispatching the resulting penalty to put us 2-0.  Wanderers capatilised on this and added a third from Barney Huxtable.  Crewe then regrouped and settled down trying desperately to break down our right side but were scuppered time and time again by the doubling up of a hard work Matt Franks and Sean Record. But Scott Armstong once again spoiled their party with a well finished  goal, this was rounded off with a combination of Scott Armstrong run and a Barney Huxtable goal giving a final score 5-0.
Managers Comments: Last week was a ground out under par performance but the stretched squad today were superb.  All round there were good performances, Downey in goal strong hands, quick off his line and taking crosses.  Top class performances from both full backs and centre backs alike.  Midfield worked tirelessly with Scott in top form and Barney and Jim running a front line.  Today was a real pleasure gents Thanks.

Sunday 18th October  Away to Holmes Chapel Hurricanes U17/18 League
Todays Squad
James Downey, Chris Stubbs, Adam Williams, James Handley, Bryan Wright,  Ryan Wan, Scott Armstrong, Nathan Thorpe, Matt Franks,Dan Ball, James Withe, Sean Record,
Scorers: Scott Armstrong, Jamie Ball
Todays MOM:
Report: A great start from Tarporley creating a number of opportunities, after 15 minutes the Holmes Chapel defender chopped down Jamie Ball with a resulting penalty.  This was completed by Scott Armstrong.  Wanderers were now in charge but could not increase the lead.  Slowly Holmes Chapel increased there grip on the game and a long punt beat all to level the score, half time 1-1.
In the second half Wanderers picked up the game and began playing better football but were still not convincing, struggling with a small pitch and a team that played route one, Tarporley benefited from the same tactic a long clearance from Downey bounced over the Chapel defence, this was pounced on by Jamie Ball to give us the lead.  More chances came but were not converted and Holmes Chapel continued to be a threat but Wanderers saw out the game to win 2-1
Managers Comments: Certainly not a classic and not many good performances, the brightest James Withe from the bench.  That said Wanderers would have lost a game like this in the past but ground out a win which cant be a bad thing.

Sunday 11th October  Home to Nantwich Town U17/18 League
Todays Squad
James Downey, Martin Fizsimons, Adam Williams, James Handley, Bryan Wright,  Jamie Ball, Scott Armstrong, Nathan Thorpe, Dan Ball, Matty Darlington, Barney Huxtable, Matt Franks,  Ryan Wan, James Withe, Sean Record, Chris Stubbs,
Scorers: Barney Huxtable (3), Dan Ball, Matty Darlington
Todays MOM:  Barney Huxtable, James Downey
Report: A full squad available, with Wanderers starting a 4-4-2 formation for the 1st time this season. It looked to be paying dividends with Dan Ball opening up the scoring after 5 minutes and for the next 20 minutes it was one way traffic, good football and plenty of chances, Barney Huxtable converting two of these.  Tarporley took there foot of the gas and let Nantwich back in to the game and after increasing the pressure netted one for themselves.  Half time 3-1 in favour of the Wanderers
In the second half Wanderers picked up the game again and added two further goals one from Barney Huxtable to complete his hat trick and one from the spot for Matty Darlington. We again took the foot of the gas and concede a late goal to leave final score 5-2
Managers Comments: A strange game today, periods of complete dominance but a game we were kept in with 3 great saves from Downey.  We cant afford to let off in any game or we will be punished as we were today.

Sunday 27th September  Away to Holmes Chapel Hurricanes Blades U17/18 League
Todays Squad
James Downey, Chris Stubbs,  James Handley, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan, Scott Armstrong, Nathan Thorpe, Martin Fitzsimons, Matt Franks, Dan Ball, Jamie Ball, James Withe, Sean Record
Scorers:
Todays MOM:  Dan Ball, James Handley
Report: We started with more players today only missing Adam W and Barney H. We kicked off with q 4-5-1 formation and were performing well in a highly competitive game. But within 10 minutes Ryan had taken a knock and five minutes after that Chris Stubbs joined him.  Wanderers were unlucky not to go ahead when Dan Ball was unleashed another few half chances came and went but no reward.  Defensively we were strong limiting Holmes Chapel to half chances.
In the second half Wanderers were pegged back a little and for a period we struggled to create, by now we were running with Scott A and Nathan carrying strains but all stood strong and demonstrated this new desire not to give in and held on for a 0-0 draw
Managers Comments: Another good performance against tough opposition, but a fully fit Wanderers have enough in the tanks to take something on the return game

Sunday 20th September  Home to Cheshire Blades Eagles U17/18 League
Todays Squad
James Withe, Chris Stubbs, Adam Williams (Capt) James Handley, Bryan Wright, Ryan Wan, Scott Armstrong, Nathan Thorpe, Martin Fitzsimons, Matt Franks, Barney Huxtable
Scorers: Barney Huxtable 2, Scott Armstrong, James Handley
Todays MOM:  Team award
Report: A stretched squad today, only 11 players available including Ryab Wan playing his first game for the club.  Wanderers started like a rocket and were 1-0 up in the opening 5 minutes when Barney pounced on a through ball and finished in style.  A period of good play created chances but no goals and at the other end Withy made a fantastic save at the foot of a Blades player to keep us in the game.  On 30 minutes a piece of good play and a good cross was met by a Blades midfielder who had run a long way to level the score.  Wanderers new approach took the game to the next level and within minutes a good run by Barney H, crossed for Scott Armstrong to pounce and the lead was restored. This was the score at half time.
In the second half Wanderers took the game to the next level, playing with width, this meant Ryan now got into the game, giving the defenders a torrid time.  Blades chances reduced as Wanderers increased but in fairness to Blades they were very resilient, it took around 25 minutes to be broken down but a superb controlled and steered ball from the chest of Nathan Thorpe into James Handley put the game beyond Eagles,  The game was rounded up with Barneys second late in the game
Managers Comments: Another good performance today players working hard for the team. Selecting a man of the match today an impossible task each and every player producing some moments of magic and very little in terms of errors, James Withe 2 great saves one from opposition and one from Ad, Bryan and Chris outlets for the keeper and very tidy, James H strong and dominant in the air, Ad tidied up all sorts, Matt Franks terrific challenges and work, a tireless Nathan never letting the game settle, Fitzy superb self control a real pleasure, Scott A back to his very best, Ryan outstanding second half and Barney worked so hard, an all round team performance

Sunday 13th September  Away to Willaston White Star U17/18 League
Todays Squad
James Downey, James Withe, Adam Williams (Capt) James Handley, Bryan Wright, Dan Ball, Scott Armstrong, Nathan Thorpe, Martin Fitzsimons, Matt Franks, Jamie Ball, Chris Stubbs, Sean Record
Scorers: Dan Ball, Jamie Ball
Todays MOM:  James Handley, Nathan Thorpe, two new signings making a great impact on there debut well done boys.
Report: Opening game of the season was against a much fancied Willaston White Star, the first 30 minutes was a strongly contended feisty affair that was fairly even and not a lot to choose between the sides.  On 30 minutes however it was 1st blood to WWS, Dan Ball going closest to the equaliser but WWS went in 1-0 at half time.
Wanderers were not in the mood to give this one up and started with a more deliberate approach and it wasn't long before a well delivered ball from Fitzty found Jamie Ball who netted to make it 1-1.  Five minutes later we thought we were in front when an excellent team goal and flicked header from Jamie B was steered into the path of Adam Williams who headed passed the keeper but found it wrongly ruled out for offside.  A further 5 minutes into the game and this time Jamie Ball steered the ball in to path of brother Dan who struck a great shot to put wanderers in the lead.  A gutsy but deliberate battling performance ensued but Wanderers showed enough strength to see the game out and win 2-1
Managers Comments: A terrific team performance today players worked hard for each other and a fantastic testament with the introduction of the two new players who looked if they had played with us for ever.  Should we continue to combine this battling effort and ability it could be a rewarding season
