I would like to thank the players for their hard work throughout the
season. Their attitude, commitment and behaviour has been spot on.
They should be proud of themselves. Thanks also to the parents for
their unstinting support throughout the season.
I look forward to next season.

Sunday 29th April Away to Sandbach United Eagles.
Result: Sandbach United Eagles 0 Tarporley 2
The last match of the season proved to be a great finale to the season
by Tarporley who displayed passion, determination and a great attitude
to finish the season on a high.
TWe
dominated the first half with some great moves creating a number of
chances. We opened the scorring half way through the first half
through Will Furmedge.
The
second half was more of the same with our defence proving difficult to
break down, our midfield working well as a unit and our attackers
proving a real handful. Jack Hutchinson finally got the second goal to
put the game beyond Sandbach.
This was an exceptional performance
by Tarporley who held their own against a very well organised and
physically strong Northwich side. Our players really got stuck in and
their attitude, commitment and work rate were all first class
Scorers: Jack Hutchinson 1, Will Furmedge 1,
.
MOM : Ben Unsworth - a great performance
Sunday 27th April Home to Egerton Tatton.
Result: Tarporley Wanderes 3 - Egerton Tatton 3
This was the last home game of the
season for Tarporley and we were out for revenge against Egerton who
beat us 9 - 0 a few weeks when we only had 9 men. With a full team
available we were up for the challenge.
We started well creating a number of chances with some good passing
and movement. Egerton however opened the scoring slightly against the
run of play after 15 minutes. We drew level after 20 minutes with
a good finish from Will Furmedge following an excellent ball by Andy
Ward. the game became quite evenly matched with Tarporley
battling well in midfield and Andy Ward proving a handful for the
Egerton defence. It was Egerton however who resumed the lead after 25
minutes but again Tarporley fought straight back and equalised just
before half time with Will Furmedge bagging his second.
The second half saw Tarporley continue to apply the pressure and Jack
Hutchinson gave us the lead with a well taken goal. 1The
second half proved quite tight with Tarporley failing to extend their
lead and Egerton looking dangerous on the break. Tempers began to get
a little frayed with a number of the Egerton players getting
frustrated. Matters were not helped by a young ref who struggled
to make a decision. Egerton equalised after 50 minutes to end the game
in a draw.
Scorers: Jack Hutchinson , Will Furmedge 2,
.
MOM : Andy Ward - worked tirelessly for the team.
Sunday 20th April Home to Frodsham.
Result: Tarporley Wanderes 8 - Frodsham 0
Frodsham
played the game with only 9 players so Tarporley were always likely
winners, however the first 20 minutes was a stern test with Frodsham
showing little in attack but very resilient in defence. Tarporley
scored their first goal after 20 minutes when Will Furmedge stroked
the ball past the keeper from about 12 yards. At 1-0 Tarporley
started to play a more free flowing passing game and created more
chances. As a result of this on 33 minutes Ben
Unsworth found himself on the edge of the 6 yard box to tuck the ball
home for 2-0 after a series of good passes.
A strong
flurry before half time saw Sam Humberstone finish off another good
passing move sliding the ball past the keeper from 10 yards and Will
Furmedge hitting the crossbar with a well taken free kick.
Half time Tarporley 3 Frodhsam 0.
Once the
second half was underway it became clear that the longer the game went
on the more dominant Tarporley became with the number advantage really
making a difference, also Tarporley were now well into their fast
moving passing game and the 9 Frodsham players were gradually being
overwhelmed. 12
minutes into the second half Jack Hutchinson made it 4-0, and after
Chris Pover's battling run resulted in a penalty, Michael Spencer
opened his goal scoring account for this season with a well struck
penalty. At 5-0 Tarporley moved their central defenders, Ben Tyler and
Alex Wood into attack and put the attacking pair of Andy Ward and
Chris Pover into central defence. Almost immediately Jack
Hutchinson scored his second and after 22 minutes of the second half
Alex Wood followed up his own blistering shot to tuck the ball away
for 7-0.
With 5 minutes of the game left to play Ben Tyler scored a well
deserved goal, but the 8-0 score line was enough for the Frodsham
manager who called his players off.
This was an exceptional performance
by Tarporley who held their own against a very well organised and
physically strong Northwich side. Our players really got stuck in and
their attitude, commitment and work rate were all first class
Scorers: Jack Hutchinson 2, Will Furmedge, Ben Unsworth,
Sam Humberstone, Michael Spencer, Alex Wood, Ben Tyler
.
MOM : was a tough decision with Jack Hutchinson, Ben Tyler and Alex
Wood all considered, in the end it was the strong defensive
display and them both scoring when given the attacking oportunity that
swung it to a joint award for Ben Tyler and Alex Wood.
Wednesday 16th April Away to Northwich Victoria.
Result: Northwich Victoria 2 Tarporley 1
This
game represented a tought test for Tarporley having lost to
Northwich 7 - 1 earlier in the season.
Tarporley were up for this match and
showed Northwich no respect. We were quicks out of the blocks, strung
together a number of good attacking moves and created a number of
chances. Northwich looked quite dangerous on the break with some good
pace upfront however a well organised and strong Tarporley defence
stood firm.
Tarporley took the lead after 20
minutes with a great strike from Jack Hutchinson from the edge of the
box which found the top corner of the net. Further chances were
created which with a little more composure would have extended our
lead. Northwich drew level just before half time with a well taken
goal.
The second half was very tight with
both teams defending well. In the end it was a penalty in favour of
Northwich which gave them a narrow victory.
The second half saw Weaverham start
to get back into the game as Tarporley looked a little jaded.
This was an exceptional performance
by Tarporley who held their own against a very well organised and
physically strong Northwich side. Our players really got stuck in and
their attitude, commitment and work rate were all first class
Scorers: Jack Hutchinson,
.
MOM : A team award - a great effort.
Wednesday 9th April Away to Weaverham.
Result: Weaverham 1 Tarporley 3
Tarporley were at full strength and
started the game very well on a difficult pitch - muddy in places with
a big slope. After a scrappy first 5 / 10 minutes we began to knock
the around well using the top side of the pitch. Some great work in
midfield began to produce a number of chances. It was a great solo run
from Ben Unsworth who fed an excellent ball through for Jack
Hutchinson to run onto, which gave Tarporley a well deserved lead
after 15 minutes. This was extended 5 minutes later with a goal from
Chris Pover - just reward following a period of sustained
pressure.
The second half saw Weaverham start
to get back into the game as Tarporley looked a little jaded.
Weaverham pulled one back after 50 minutes with a well taken goal.
This seemed to spur Tarporley into action again. A great run from Will
Furmedge resulted in a penalty which he duly converted to give
Tarporley a well deserved victory.
Tarporley showed great character in fighting back in the second half
against a very well organised Winsford side
Scorers: Jack Hutchinson, Chris Pover, Will Furmedge
.
MOM : joint award - Ben Unsworth and Jack Hutchinson.
Sunday 6th April Away to Egerton Tatton
Result: Egerton Tatton 9 Tarporley 0
This was an extremely flattering
scoreline and was by no means a true reflection of the game. Tarporley
did really well in the first half with a makeshift line up which saw
Will Fumedge play at centre half and do an excellent job. Despite the
2 man disadvantage, Tarporley more than held their own for the first
half hour of the game and created a number of chances. This was a
great effort!, Egerton took the lead just before half time with a
lucky deflected goal which was a cruel blow to Tarporley who had
defended so well and run their legs off.
The second half saw the first half
exertions take their toll on Tarporley and they began to tire. A
number of quick counter attacking moves by Egerton saw them extend
their lead and in the end they ran out comfortable winners.
The effort, attitude and commitment
from the 9 Tarporely players was commendable!
MOM : Will Furmedge = a great
performance as a stand in centre half.
Sunday 30th March Home to Winsford Over 3.
Result: Tarporley 3 Winsford Over 3 4
This was always going to be a tough game against a side who have been
top of the league all season. Winsford looked dangerous from the
outset with good pace upfront and a strong midfield. Despite them
creating a couple of early chances it was Tarporley who took the lead
with a well taken goal from Will Furmedge following some excellent
work by Andy Ward. Winsford bounced straight back scoring twice in the
space of a couple of minutes and they extended their lead further on
the stroke of half time scoring from a corner.
The second half saw Tarporley perform more strongly, stringing
together a number of good moves. Slightly against the run of play
however Winsford extended their lead to 4 - 1. A great finish by Andy
Ward followed by a well taken goal from Jack Hutchinson ensured
an exciting last 15 minutes as Tarporley continued to push for the
equaliser. A couple of chances went begging for Tarporley and at the
other end Johnny Crank pulled off a string of excellent saves as
Winsford continued to look dangerous on the counter attack. The final score
finished 3 - 4
Tarporley showed great character in fighting back in the second half
against a very well organised Winsford side
Scorers: Will Furmedge, Andy Ward, Jack Hutchinson
.
MOM : Andy Ward.
Sunday 16th March Home to Northwich.
Result: Tarporley 0 Northwich 5
A disappointing result that didn't reflect the periods of the
game where Tarporley dominated the play. Tarporley got off
to the worst possible start when Nortwich who looked very sharp in
attack throughout the game scored after 2 minutes. Although this put Northwich on
top in the early part of the game, Tarporley gradually started to get
into the game, until an excellent finish in the 16th minute put
Nortwich 2-0 up, which was the score at half time.
Tarporley had chances to shoot but wanted to make the 'killer pass'
and so didn't really test the Northwich keeper. Northwich
were also energetic throughout and this gave Tarporley trouble getting
their passing game going, with many passes either going short or being
picked up by Northwich. In the second half both Will Furmedge
and Andy Ward got themselves into good positions but unfortunately
were not able to finish off what were difficult chances.
Northwich took advantage of every chance and ended up scoring 3 more
goals in the second half, although this put Tarporley under pressure
the team continued to work throughout and although pushing for a
consolation goal until the end it was not going to be Tarporley's day.
This was another very strong performance by Tarporley in difficult
conditions. The attitude, work rate and team spirit were first class
Scorers: Andy Ward 3, Alex Wood 2, Ben Unsworth, Sam Humberstone
.
MOM : Man of the Match was difficult to select, consideration going to
Ben Tyler who never stopped tackling and trying to make things
happen, but it had to go to Will Furmedge who had a physical
battle with the Northwich defence for the entire game, never giving up
and taking a lot of knocks on behalf of the team.
Sunday 2nd March Home to Witton Villa.
Result: Tarporley 7 Witton Villa 1
This was a great team performance from Tarporley who applied the
pressure straight from the kick off. Andy Ward and Sam Humberstone
gave us a 2 goal lead inside the first 5 minutes. We continued to dominate
and played some great one touch football. We dominated midfield with
some excellent distribution. Two great corners from Sam Humberstone
were converted by Alex Wood. An excellent through ball from Liam
Crabtree gave Andy Ward his second to give Tarporley a 5 - 0 lead at
half time.
A couple of chances for Tarporley to extend their lead early in the
second half went begging but we continued to play some good football
with good passing and movement. It was a great run and finish by Ben
Unsworth which gave Tarporley their 6th goal with Andy Ward completing
his hatrick after 55 minutes. Witton stole a late consolation goal.
This was another very strong performance by Tarporley in difficult
conditions. The attitude, work rate and team spirit were first class
Scorers: Andy Ward 3, Alex Wood 2, Ben Unsworth, Sam Humberstone
.
MOM : awarded to the team - a great performance
Sunday 27th January Home to Congleton Rovers.
Result: Tarporley 1 Congleton Rovers 2
This match represented a good indicator of the progress we have made
over the last few months as we lost 6 - 0 to Congleton at the start of
the season. Prior to the game they were 2nd in the league we were 4th.
The opening quarter of the match was evenly poised with, if anything,
Tarporley enjoying the better possession. We played some excellent
football at times knocking the ball around really well. The work rate
was excellent and were a match for the physical approach adopted by
Congleton. A frre kick outside thier penalty area after 25 minutes
gave us a real opportunity. This was superbly converted by Will
Furmedge hitting the ball over the wall and into the top corner of the
net. Congleton fought back strongly and despite constant pressure our
defence held firm to maintain our 1 - 0 lead at half time.
The second half saw Congleton continue to apply the pressure
which paid off after 45 minutes when they levelled the match. A well
taken header from a corner put then into the lead with 15 minutes to
go. We fought back strongly and created a number of chances with
their keeper pulling off an excellent save from Andy Ward in the final
minutes of the match to prevent us from earning what would have been a
well earned point.
This was another strong performance from Tarporley against a well
organised and physically very strong side
Scorers: Will Furmedge
.
MOM : Alex Wood - a very assured and solid display in the centre of
the defence
Sunday 13th January Home to Kingsmead League.
Result: Tarporley 5 Kingsmead 3
Without doubt one of the best wins that the Tarporley U 14's have
achieved this season, Kingsmead are a physical side that caused lots
of problems in previous games.
Kingsmead had the wind and slope in the first half and it was always
going to be a tough 35 minutes for the home side, this proved even
more true after 8 minutes when Kingsmead forced a corner which
resulted in their first goal with a header at the back post.
Tarporley started to create chances but couldn't score, then after 19
minutes an excellent chip over the Tarporley defence saw the high
quality Kingsmead centre forward deliver an excellent finish to take
the score to 2-0.
A battling 15 mins meant that at half-time the score remained at 2-0
and with the conditions now in Tarporley favour there was every
chance for a home win but it was going to require full effort from the
entire team as Kingsmead were playing well and looked capable of more
goals.
Tarporley quickly got themselves back into the game when after 4
minutes of the second half Will Furmedge did some great work on the
right hand side of the Kingsmead penalty area, squared the ball into
the box where after a scramble in front of goal Andy Ward tucked
the ball away.
8 minutes into the second half Will Furmedge again battling down the
right received a bad blow to his right cheekbone but while he was
down Chris Pover finished things off to make the score 2-2.
This was a tough game and so several substitutions took place to bring
on fresh legs especially in mid field, this didn't look too good a
decision when after 17 minutes of the second half another great
run down the centre saw the Kingsmead centre forward slide another
well taken goal away for 3-2.
From this point however Tarporley took control, Kingsmead lost
their shape and 3 goals were scored in 12 minutes. 20
minutes into the second half Andy ward did some great individual work
on the edge of the box and hit a great shot to square things at 3-3.
Andy Ward also finished good team moves on 27 and 32 minutes to wrap
things up and give a great 5-3 victory
Scorers: Andy Ward 4, Chris Pover
.
MOM : In terms of quality of performance and effort M.o.M. was a
difficult decision but with 4 goals it had to go to Andy Ward
Sunday 6th January Home to Middlewich 2nd round Cup.
Result: Tarporley 2 Middlewich 5
Tarporley started well and were unlucky not to take the lead
after 10 minutes when Andy Ward found the back of the net only for the
goal to be disallowed for offside - a harsh decision to say the
least!.
Middlewich enjoyed good spells of possession but never converted this
into clearcut chances. The Tarporley defense was strong and well
organised with both Alex Wood and Ben Tyler controlling matters
effectively.
The score at half time was 0 - 0 although Tarporley were unlucky not
to have a 2 goal lead.
It was Middlewich who took the lead early in the second half with a
well taken free kick from outside the area. They extended their lead
after 50 minutes against the run of play with Tarporley having
squandered another two clear goal scoring opportunities
Our heads never dropped and it was Jordan Sheen who pulled one back
after an excellent corner from Jack Hutchinson. Middlewich started to
look dangerous on the break and created a number of good moves down
the right flank. A well taken goal after 60 minutes restored their 2
goal lead. Again Tarporley fought to get back into the game and
justice was done when Alex Wood scored with a great shot to bring the score
back to 2 - 3.
Unfortunately Middlewich scored 2 more goals in the dying minutes of
the game to finish 5 - 2 winners
The scoreline flattered Middlewich as Tarporley deserved at least a
draw from the match. It shows the progress we have made this season in
more than holding our own against a well organised, physically very
strong Division 1 side. Had we taken our chances we would have won the
match.
Scorers: Jordan Sheen, Alex Wood
.
MOM : Ben Tyler - a real captains performance - led by example from
the back and gave his best performance of the season "
Carragheresque"!!, (I think he means like Vidic or Ferdinand)
Sunday 16th December Away to Winsford Over 3.
Result: Tarporley 2 Winsford Over 3 4
Tarporley were under pressure during the early stages of the game and
after 20 minutes found themselves 2 goals down to a strong
Winsford team. As the half progressed Tarporley started to get
their passing game going and on 24 minutes a good move on the right
hand side of the penalty area created a chance that Will Furmedge
finished well..
IThe second half started with Tarporley exerting the pressure with all
players working hard, and after 10 minutes a well taken individual
goal from Jack Hutchinson saw Tarporley level at 2-2. Winsford moved
their players around at this point as Tarporley were clearly getting
on top, their game from this point improved with them very quickly
putting Tarporley under pressure. 15 and 25 minutes into
the second half saw 2 well taken goals to put Winsford 4-2 in front.
Winsford who are currently top of the league commended the Tarporley
team saying that was the best game of football that they have played
in all season, and are quality passing game continues to put opposing
teams under pressure.
Scorers: Jack Hutchinson Will Furmege,
.
MOM : Will Furmege
Sunday 9th December Home to Weaverham.
Result: Tarporley 3 Weaverham 10
It was Weaverham who took the lead after 15 minutes very much against
the run of play with Tarporley having dominated possession. We were
knocking the ball around well with some good work down both flanks but
a couple of half chances went begging. Half time saw Tarporley 1 - 0
down but with not having done allot wrong.
It was Jack Hutchinson who pulled the match level with a well taken
finish. Weaverham started to look a little tired as the second half
progressed and Tarporley continued to apply the pressure. Weaverham
were camped out in their own half for long spells and under
pressure began to look a bit ragged with a couple of nasty tackles
going in. We battled well in midfield and looked dangerous down both
wings with Jordan Sheen and Jack Hutchinson causing the Weaverham
defence problems. An excellent free kick from the edge of the box by
Will Furmedge gave Tarporley a well deserved lead. This was extended
in the last few minutes by Andy Ward to give Tarporley a well deserved
victory.
This was the seventh victory in succession for Tarporley who again
showed real character in coming from behind to win the match. Another
great team performance underpinned by a strong work ethic.
Scorers: Jack Hutchinson Will Furmege, Andy Ward
.
MOM : Jordan Sheen - a first class performance running his socks off
for the team.
Sunday 24th November Home to Barnton.
Result: Tarporley 3 Barnton 0
An outstanding team performance saw Tarporley run out clear winners in
a tough match against good oppostion.
Tarporley dominated play in the first half but half time arrived with
the score at 0-0. The second half conitnued in the same
way with Tarporley's excellent passing game putting Barnton under
pressure.
5 minutes into the second half Will Furmedge hit a clever free kick
from 25 yards that left the Barnton keeper with no chance and
Tarporley went 1-0 up.
Barnton went close with a goalmouth scramble almost immediately after
the restart but the defence who played as a great unit all through the
game managed to clear their lines. 10 minutes into the
second half Ben Unsworth picked the ball up in the Barnton half, beat
several players and slotted home an outstanding individual goal,
Tarporley 2-0 up and looking like probable winners of this game.
Tarporley made several other opportunities with Liam Crabtree at the
heart of much of the high quality passing and tackling from midfield.
With just a few minutes left to play another good run down the right
from Ben Unsworth saw a cross into the centre well put away by Andy
Ward. Tarporley completing a well deserved 3-0 win.
Scorers: Will Furmege, Ben Unsworth, Andy Ward
.
MOM : was very difficult to decide with everyone making a great
contribution but won today by Ben Unsworth
Sunday 18th November Away to Witton.
Result: Witton Villa 0 Tarporley 6
This was another great performance from Tarporley in difficult
conditions - a strong wind and freezing temperatures.
Despite Witton having a significant physical advantage with some big
lads in their team Tarporley dominated possession in the first half
with a well organised defence, strong midfield and a strong
attack. Sam Humberstone gave Tarporley a well deserved lead which was
extended by further goals from Jordan Sheen and Andy Ward. Half time
saw Tarporley 3 - 0 but it should have been at least 5.
The second half saw Tarporley playing into the wind which with the
addition of heavy rain made playing conditions very difficult. Witton
fought to get back into the game putting together a couple of good
moves but Johhny Crank stood firm in goal.
It was Jordan Sheen who gave Tarporley the comfort of a 4 goal lead battling
hard to win possession and finding the back of the net with a well
taken shot.
A further 2 goals from Andy Ward to complete a well deserved
hat-rick gave Tarporley another excellent victory.
.
Scorers: Sam Humberstone, Andy Ward 3, Jordan Sheen 2
.
MOM : Andy Ward
Sunday 11th November Home to Davenham Dynamoes.
Result: Tarporley 5 Davenham Dynamo's 4
This was one of the best performances by this team since their
formation, coming back from 3 - 0 down at half time!.
The half time score line flattered Davenham as it was Tarporley who
had been the better team and who had dominated possession. All three
goals came against the run of play. Tarporley had knocked the ball around
well using the full width of the pitch and looking dangerous down both
flanks. It was our finishing again which let us down at times.
The second half saw us continue to dominate possession with
Davenham camped out in their own half. Justice was done after 50
minutes when Jack Hutchinson finally found the back of the net.
Further quick goals by Jordan Sheen and a penalty from Will Furmedge
saw us draw level. We continued to push forward and justifiably
took the lead when the Davenham keeper spilled a corner from Jack
Hutchinson to concede an own goal. Davenham then enjoyed a good spell
and began to look dangerous going forward. A good header from a well
taken corner resulted in them drawing level with 5 minutes to go.
Again we launched a number of attacks with some excellent battling in
midfield. Jack Hutchinson finally secured a memorable victory in the
dying seconds of the match.
This was a really fantastic team performance. The lads showed real
character and determination to come back from 3 - 0 down, never
allowing their heads to drop.
We are developing a real team spirit and an excellent work ethic which
is beginning to pay dividends
.
Scorers: Jack Hutchinson 2, Will Furmdge, Jordan Sheen, 1 own
goal
.
MOM : Will Furmedge - worked tirelessly upfront, held the ball up well
and had a number of superb touches. His best performance for a long
time !
Sunday 4th November Away to Barnton Cup.
Result: Barnton 1 Tarporley2
Games against Barnton have always been very close and this match was
no exception. Despite Tarporley dominating possession in the early
stages of the game we were unable to convert this possession into
goals. Barnton always looked dangerous on the counter attack with a
couple of their players demonstrating good pace. Jonathan Crank made a
couple of great saves to deny Barnton taking the lead. It was however
very much against the run of play that Barnton took the lead after 30
minutes.
We continued to dominate in the second half with some good work down
both flanks. It was Chris Pover who finally broke through in the 60th
minute with a well earned goal. We continued to push forward and
push hard for the winner. There was some good passing and movement and
improved link up play. Justice was done with 5 minutes to go when
Chris Pover again found the back of the net to give Tarporley a well
deserved win.
.
Scorers: Chris Pover 2
MOM : This was a great all round team performance with everybody
contributing to a well earned victory
Sunday 7th October Away to Witton Albion Cup
This was an outstanding side from the top of the division above us,
and it was no surprise when they dominated play from the starting
whistle. They displayed speed, skill, organisation and vision Witton
outplayed Tarporley in every area of the pitch. The final score
reflected a tough game for the Wanderers.
We played with determination and spirit none the less. Wanderers never
gave up and our heads never dropped in spite of a grueling 70 minutes,.
playing as a team, supporting and encouraging each other. Wanderers
tried to pass, move and attack, but were again and again pinned back.
Ben Unsworth showed courage in moving the ball away from defence when
the opportunity arose. Liam and Will fought hard in the centre, while
Andy, Chris and Jordan chased those balls that broke into the
Witton half, and even on occasions towards their goal.
The defence were magnificent, at times playing themselves to an
exhausted stand still. Alex and Ben in the centre committed to the
tackles and were only passed through some extraordinary skill and ball
play. Michael found himself in the thick of play against larger and
faster players, but as the rest of the team, showed no signs of
letting up.
This was a good display by Tarporley in the best traditions of the
game. They were simply outclassed, but none the less showed spirit and
courage at every corner of the field final score Tarporley 0 Witton 8
MOM : Johnnie Crank for some outstanding skill against a withering
attack
Sunday 30th September Home to Tarvin League
Tarporley were under pressure during the early stages of the game and
spent the first 20 minutes defending deep in our own half. We stood
firm however and despite Tarvin dominating possession, they failed to create
many clear cut chances.
It was Tarporley however who took the lead after 25 minutes against
the run of play with Will Furmedge converting a free kick from
outside the area. Tarporley then began to enjoy more of the ball
and strung together a number of good moves.
Our lead was extended early in the second half with a well taken goal
from Jack Hutchinson following a great ball into the penalty area from
Chris Pover.
Tarvin pulled one back almost immediately but it was Jack Hutchinson
who restored our two goal lead following some great work from Andy
Ward.
The height advantage that Tarvin had paid dividends from two corners
which saw them score two quick goals to draw level at 3 - 3. A
couple of defensive lapses from Tarporley in the dying stages of the
game saw Tarvin steal a late victory 5 -3
Tarporley were very unlucky not to get something from this game.
Scorers: Jack Hutchinson 2, Will Furmage
MOM : Jack Hutchinson
Sunday 16th September Home to Sandbach Eagles League
This was a great performance by Tarporley in their first league game
of the season.
We started well dominating possession in the early stages of the game.
Jack Hutchinson scored the first goal of the game heading home after a
great cross from Will Furmedge. We created some great moves with some
excellent link up play down both flanks. A little more composure would
have seen us extend our lead. It was Sandbach however who scored on
the stroke of half time.
Tarporley continued to apply the pressure in the second half and it
was Chris Pover who restored our lead after 60 minutes with a good
finish. Ben Tyler finished off another good move in the 65th minute to
put the game beyond Sandbach. A truly excellent save from Johnny Crank
in the final minutes of the game maintained the 3 -1 lead.
This was a very good all round team performance
