My paternal grandfather was George Henry Parkes, who married Florence Sophia Dunham at St Phillip's, Birmingham Cathedral. They had 4 children, Thomas Benjamin(Ben or Benny), Alfred (Alf), Rene (Kathrene ?)and Kate (Kathleen Eve (or Eva)).
I know nothing of Alf's life, but Kate married Gilbert Horton and moved to Wolverhampton. They had three children, Tony, Colin (who died in his 20's) and Valerie, all born in the 1930s. A later child (twins ?) was stillborn. Rene, I believe, after marriage also lived in Wolverhampton.
My father, Thomas Benjamin (born 21 June 1905), worked at Harvey's in Walsall as a polisher. It was here he met my mother, Nellie Dorothy Dyoss. He left Harvey's in 1933, buying Caldmore Cycle Depot, Caldmore Green, Walsall from the widow of Tommy Kenney (a racing cyclist of some note), who had established it.
