Herbert married Sarah Anne (Nancy) Shaw, the sister of his Uncle Albert Beard's wife, Elizabeth, and had one child Herbert (born 1920), who was hit by a motorcyclist and died around 1936. Herbert and Nancy then adopted two children, Brian & Marie, both of whom were born in the mid 1930s.
Gertrude married John (Jack) Farrington. They had two daughters, Gertrude (Gertie) and Joan.
