Juniors

The Junior Drama Group is an extension of Pateley Bridge Dramatic Society in partnership with Harrogate Outreach as a satellite of the Youth Theatre. It has been specially formed for young people between the ages of 8 and 16. It meets in the Methodist Church Hall on Friday evenings. There are two groups, 8 to11 year olds meet at 5.30 until 6.30 and over 11s meet at 7.00 to 8.30 pm, during school terms. Workshops are led by Karen Wilson.

The purpose of the group is to give younger people an opportunity to learn about and gain skills in the performing arts, in a stimulating environment, through group/team exercises in stagecraft, improvisation, exploration and building of character roles and various forms of drama.

Since September 2001, when we began working in partnership with Harrogate Theatre Outreach, the Junior Drama Group has gone from strength to strength. We are now able to offer two workshops on a Friday evening for different age groups. The format for both groups is similar, in that we start with warm-up exercises and games which are designed to develop voice projection, movement, awareness and concentration and then spit into smaller units to explore dramatic situations, role play, mime, mask work or short, scripted pieces.
