The Christian Nightbase opened in March 1997 “to encourage and equip young people (15+) to be committed followers of Jesus Christ”. In order to achieve this, we have identified five core purposes:

  • Fellowship To Enjoy
  • Reaching To Win
  • Building To Grow
  • Equipping To Minister
  • Training To Lead

Our contemporary social venue provides the hub for our activities. It is here when we usually make our first contact with young people through the Saturday programme of fun, encouragement and outreach. However, this is just the beginning. From here we encourage involvement in our discipleship programme which is concerned with helping us to take up the challenge of Christ to deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him and on “The Way” discover that it is no longer I that lives but Christ lives in me and the life I live, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

To help young adults in this exciting expedition, we have developed five main programmes, which encourage people to take the next step of growth. Whether someone is starting to explore the issues of faith or ready to lead others into a deeper relationship with the Master, there is a discipleship option suitable for them.

Core Values

Core values need to be articulated clearly as they guide all activities within the organisation no matter how big or small. We have described them as the “Be-attitudes” of Exodus. They are as follows:

  • Be actively involved - Exodus is about body ministry: no one need to be on the sidelines - be an active part of fulfilling the Great Commission. (Matt. 28:19-20)
  • Be boldly positive - A negative spirit or attitude destroys the individual and those around them. We are called to be people of faith and hope --- no room for pessimism. (1Cor. 13:13)
  • Be committed - Committed people get things done even in the tough times.
  • Be co-operative - Teams are efficient when they work together in harmony. (Rom. 12:16)
  • Be distinctive - All our activities should be impacted by a distinctiveness emanating from our desire to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.” (Matt. 6:33)
  • Be disciplined - Not much is achieved without hard work and effort. (Pr. 24:30-34)
  • Be excellent - We do everything as unto Him. Our goal should be to give Him the best.
  • Be fun - Joy is always a tonic! (Phil. 4:4)
  • Be a finisher - it is easy to start well but finishing is another story. Finishing well is crucial to quality. (2Tim. 4:7)
  • Be growing - Following Christ always keeps us moving forward.
  • Be gentle - Out there it is a tough world and all of us have our struggles and pain. We all need to be handled with gentleness. (1Pet. 3:4)
  • Be humble - We’re all called to wash feet! (John 13:15-17)
  • Be inclusive - We need to open wide our hearts to all. (2 Cor. 6:13)

Statement of Belief

As we work in partnership with the local church, we are aware of the doctrinal differences that exist. As we serve the wider body of Christ, we endeavour to focus on the central issues of faith. The statement of belief below is our broad guide:

  • The complete Bible as the inspired Word of God.
  • God as Creator of all men and the Father of all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • The Lord Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God, mediator and redeemer, through faith in Him alone, we receive forgiveness of our sins and life in all it’s fullness.
  • God the Holy Spirit, co-equal member of the Trinity, who indwells those who - through faith - have received the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour.
  • The fact of sin and the need of atonement.
  • The incarnation, death, resurrection, ascension and coming again of the Lord Jesus Christ.
