After an absence of five years, David Lingwood returned to the BKC. His musical instrument set up has not changed that much, in that it now includes a Technics KN7000 apart from his usual Technics C800 portable organ (GX7) and also a Roland SP3 piano.

He began his concert on the organ with a lively medley of happy songs, i.e. Happy Days Are Here Again, Hap Hap Happy Day, Zippedidooda and to conclude Thats Entertainment. Slowing things down, we had a lovely rendition of the Lonely Shepherd before continuing with Welcome. Moving over to the KN 7000 David played us the Pie In The Face Polka.
Many favour Scott Joplins music and so moving himself and his stool onto the hall floor we had the Complete Syncopation played on the schools piano.
With the first day of summer approaching fast, David played us the Voices Of Spring, using lots and lots of strings for this lovely melody.

Andrew Lloyd Webbers music features in the repertoire of many organists, with David singing for us whilst accompanying himself on the organ with Love Changes Everything. George Gershwin ranks amongst the great composers of our time, hence it was a delight to hear Summertime and your ears were not playing tricks on you with the dusk chorus of happily chirping birds followed by Strike Up The Band and to finish Somebody Loves Me.
One would be very hard pushed to find anyone who has not heard or listened to the Sound Of Music, which appears on our television screens at Christmas time each year. David played us a medley of tunes from the film, including that most beautiful tune Climb Every Mountain using the pipe organ and choirs, simply beautiful.

Refreshments over and raffle tickets drawn, it was time to settle down for the second half. To start things off David had chosen to play a medley of tunes from the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the theme tune from this began and ended this medley. We then got a second helping of George Gershwins music, but on the piano this time and ending with the beautiful Rhapsody In Blue. Well, if you wanted to practise dancing on your toes, then the next number was for you: the Pax de Deux. Playing the KN7000 and Roland piano, we next had a nice rendition of Mame. A second helping of Andrew Lloyd Webber too with David singing Music Of The Night from Phantom Of The Opera.
Any sort of Latin music is guaranteed to get ones feet tapping. Showing off the organ voices this time, we were treated to Eleanora, Amor, Tico Tico and last but not least El Cumbanchero. When you hear Ill See You In My Dreams and Wish Me Luck, audience participation can be guaranteed.

And if anybody happened to be looking at their watches, they could have been forgiven for thinking that the evening appeared to be finishing a tad early. Not so, this was a very special weekend, the 60th Anniversary of D-Day when so many people lost their lives. 24 hours before the concert our chairman rang David to ask if he could put a special dedication together to remember this event, and what a lovely selection of tunes he chose.
So for the traditional encore David played and asked the audience to participate with A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, Rose of England, Run Rabbit Run, The White Cliffs Of Dover, Land Of Hope and Glory and what other tune to finish off with than Well Meet Again. Thank you David for putting this together so sensitively at such short notice.

We had had an evening of pleasant music to sit back and relax to.

Why not come along to a Basildon Keyboard Club Concert, you will be made very welcome, have a great evenings entertainment, a complimentary cup of tea or coffee with biscuits and of course experience the delights of live music played on top of the range electronic organs & keyboards by the best players.
