Andrew Nix had traveled down from Norfolk from a previous show to be with us.

It's just under two years that the cheeky chappie from Yorkshire last visited us. What a delight to have this delightful young man with us - still only 40 years old, but very much on top of his profession.

Playing the new Roland Atelier AT900C and dressed in a sparkly blue jacket, Andrew opened with the March Of The Cobblers and with the wind blowing outside, appropriately Wind Beneath My Wings was next. Eddie Swan from Doncaster composed the next two pieces, i.e. Swiss Air & The Tyrolean Whistler, featuring the whistle and accordion on the Atelier - not forgetting a bit of thigh slapping.

For a bit of fun, the stage was decked with some pumpkins plus Andrew had one on top of the organ - apparently resembling Tony Stace!!!!…………… and there was a giant spider trying to climb to the flowerpot!

Reproducing the Wurlitzer sounds for us, we enjoyed a bit of a singalong with Happy Days Are Here Again - Moonriver - I Left My Heart In San Francisco - Mr. Sandman - Five Foot Two, Eyes Of Blue - I Won't Send Roses and last but not least Hey Look Me Over. All beautifully enhanced by Keith producing the apppropriate background colours.

Both Elvis Costello and Charles Aznavour have sung She from the film Notting Hill. Cole Porter (1891-1964) was a prolific American composer, known for his sophiscated lyrics and clever rhymes, Andrew opened with the much loved Begin The Beguine - Another Opening, Another Show - True Love (with some beautiful choir voices) - It's Alright With Me and, of course, Anything Goes, before continuing with a few tunes from Les Miserables. Next we heard Caravan with some super drum effects.

Following refreshments and the raffle, Andrew began the second half sporting a red jacket. Theatre organ sounds were the order of the day for Let's Face The Music Of The Day, Here's To The Next Time and Music Music, all enhanced by a kaleidoscope of colours courtesy of Keith.

Doodah voices and whistles then set the scene for Chanson D'Amour. Andrew was hoping for a bonus, hence The Impossible Dream!, featuring strings, choirs and guitar sounds. Wonderful stuff. Some Latin music with drawbars, saxophone, piano and the muted trumpet for Fly Me To The Moon (Bossa), Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White (Cha Cha) and Oh Mein Papa with the most wonderful trumpet sound.

They say the grass is always green in Ireland because of all the rain there, plus the Irish have a good ear for superb music like Oh Dannyboy (Londonderry Air), When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, Did Your Mother Come From Ireland? and Riverdance. A couple of power ballads followed: One Voice - made famous by Barry Manilow - and One Moment In Time, made equally famous by Whitney Houston.

A greenish/blueish background set the scene for Pretty Faced Polka or Bell Vista as it is otherwise known. Bill Owen from Last Of The Summerwine composed So Unlucky in memory of his beloved wife. With that we had reached the end of a fabulous evening which Andrew concluded with a Beatles medley: Can't Buy Me Love, Yesterday & Eleanor Rigby.

Shouts of "more" from the audience who wanted their traditional Basildon encore. Andrew obliged with a lively samba, La Cumbanchero.

Thanks to Andrew Nix for an evening of wonderful music interspersed with his quips of Yorkshire humour.

Why not come along to a Basildon Keyboard Club Concert, you will be made very welcome, have a great evenings entertainment, a complimentary cup of tea or coffee with biscuits and of course experience the delights of live music played on top of the range electronic organs & keyboards by the best players.
