Yamaha 9000 PRO
Take the top of the range Yamaha PSR 9000, remove the speakers,
add a few keys, some more styles, sounds and drum kits and you
get the 9000 Pro. Actually its a bit more complicated than that,
PSR 9000 owners will certainly find the 9000 Pro familiar, but it
is not a PSR 9000 with the speakers removed. A lot of the PSR
styles have been upgraded to use the new sounds on the Pro, these
sounds include new 'Live' sounds, live grand piano. 3 new
live brass sounds and live allegro strings. New 'Sweet'
sounds include Flugel and mute trumpet. There is also a new
guitar sound 'Aloha'. The drum kits have also been
upgraded and now include an all brush kit. The keyboard has been
extended to 76 notes, if you prefer playing piano style this
could be the keyboard for you. The longer keyboard also gives you
a wider range of keys for the left hand when playing keyboard
style. You still have the 'Music Database' allowing quick
and easy registration. Inside are expansion slots that allow the
Yamaha PLG expansion cards to be fitted.

The back of the keyboard has six fully assignable outputs, a
"To Host" connector for connection to a home computer,
plus a SCSI connector for fast external hard disk access. You
also get the standard MIDI connectors and the output sockets to
connect to the all important external speakers. For those that
don't have an amplifier, mixer and speakers set up in their
lounge Yamaha have thoughtfully come up with a 'Home
Performance Pack'. This consists of a solid L7 keyboard
stand, a sustain pedal, music lights and the speakers. The
speakers give a much better sound than those built into the PSR
9000, they incorporate the type of technology used in modern
computer sound systems. A base bin that sits on the floor and two
high quality mini speakers that are best mounted at ear level.
The sound from this system is very impressive.
