
33018 in early September at the Railway Age, Crewe, receiving external restoration.
Withdrawn as far back as Feb. 1988, 018 spent the next 12 years at the Moreton-in-Marsh
fire training college (15 miles East of Cheltenham) until sold to the Birmingham Railwayman's
Workgroup in mid-2000. Having been stored in the open for more than a decade, the
extent of the corrosion to the cab ends (below) is understandable and all too apparent.


By the end of October (pictured here on the 28th) BR Blue and yellow cab
ends had been applied, improving the appearance of 018 significantly.
