Terry Prachett OBE

Terry Prachett was born on 28th April 1948 in Beaconsfield, Bucks. Terry attended the High Wycombe Technical High School, after which he decided to try his hand in journalism. Terry later worked for the Central Electricity Generating Board as a Press Officer, writing novels in his spare time. However, in 1987 he decided to leave his job at the CEGB and become a full time author, accepting that although his income would be lower to start with, business would soon pick up. It happened sooner than he thought! His Discworld novels (24 to date) became best sellers expanding into other merchandise such as audible cassettes, figurines and picture books . He has also written books for younger readers such as Truckers, Diggers and Johnny And The Dead,. Terry lives with his wife Lyn and daughter Rhianna at their home in wiltshire. He was appointed OBE in 1998 and says he 'doesn't want to get a life, because he feels as though he is trying to lead three already'.
