Who The Heck .....?

Portrait Of The Artist As A Little Boy You've got here! You know, writing about yourself is a strange carry-on, a bit embarassing even, like listening to your own recorded voice on the answering machine when you ring home to tell the wife that you're on the train, but really only to find out if the dinner is ready and at the same time ensuring that you're not the only one on the train, not using their mobile phone. I'll get used to it. There are five people in our family, a nice even number, and even it should stay. My name is Tom Dunne (that's little Tom on the left) and he's the one who's to blame for all this yapping. I hail from County Laois, Portlaoise to be exact, in Southern Ireland and I was born in the Old Coombe Hospital, (now the site of a new inner city housing scheme) in Dublin city, on the 29th of October in the year 1951. I'll do my best to make your visit here worthwhile and with a few decent links thrown about the place, I may hopefully gather enough content to encourage you to stay on board.

My wife, Rose Patricia Horan, known to me as Pat, originally comes from a little place called Ballycowan, near Tullamore in County Offaly, also in Southern Ireland, although she has lived most of her life in England, before I met her that is. She was reared in the house on the right; the birth place of her three younger sisters. Pat saw the light of day on the 18th of March 1951, missing St. Patricks Day by the skin of her teeth. We met on the road between Tullamore and Mullingar, when Pat was thumbing a lift to the 1980 Ballisodare Folk Festival in Sligo with her sister Lynda, and I was the good samaritan. Ballycowan

Ratheniska Church Having tied the knot in August 1981, in Ratheniska church (County Laois), we somehow managed to produce three beautiful daughters, Aisling (16), Niamh (14), and Ciara (11), one after the other. Aisling and Niamh were born in Castlebar, County Mayo in the West of Ireland, (more about that later) where we lived after getting married. In January 1988 we came to live in Croydon, Surrey in England and soon after arriving Ciara was born. Our cat, Casey, who is asleep by the side of the monitor, joined us about four years ago.
