Comments:

Built for Robert Campbell, for whom she sailed until 1885, Benmore sailed on the Glasgow to Kilmun service. Upon sale to Captain Buchanan, she maintined her original route before being transferred to the Broomielaw to Rothesay run. She also undertook excursions from Ayr. She briefly sported two funnels following reboilering in 1887 but this was not successful and she was reboilered once more the following year, when she reverted to a single funnel. In 1892 she moved to John Williamson's ownership and became a cargo steamer principally. In 1915 she was chartered by the CSP Co, for whom she sailed for a further five years. In 1920 she went back to Williamson Buchanan ownership but was badly damaged by fire in the West Harbour, Greenock. She languished for a further three years before being scrapped at Dunbarton.
