Comments:

This little iron built steamer (shown here in the middle, on a busy Glasgow Fair weekend, with PS Benmore to the left and PS Marquis of Lorne to the right) was launched on 30 April 1870 and was the only paddler built by Fullertons for passenger service on the Clyde. Her Captain, William Barr also had a role in the superintending of her building. She sailed from the Broomielaw in Glasgow to Lochgoilhead, departing at 9.00 am or 10.30 am (alternating with PS Windsor Castle) and was well received by the travelling public. She coonected with the ferry Fairy from whom she would collect passengers from Loch Fyne and then take them back to Glasgow, which made her an important cog in the route to the West Highlands. This service was so popular that larger boats were needed and in 1884 she was sold for use as Lady Margaret on the Bristol Channel, sailing between Bristol and Cardiff until she was scrapped in 1898, with a further change of name to Lord Tredegar in 1895.
