Comments:
This vessel was steel built and was launched on 25 March 1963 and whilst later than most of my subjects has been included at a visitors request. With a passenger capacity of 400, she was built with the deckrails and wheelhouse salvaged from the old PS Compton Castle, who had failed her survey the previous season. Conway Castle was locally built by Philip & Son Ltd, the same company as in 1924 built the still surviving PS Kingswear Castle. She continued in the service of the River Dart Steamboat Co until the end of the 1976 season and was then sold to Severn Leisure of Upton on Severn for cruises between Worcester and Tewksbury. For a picture of her as she was in Spring 2005, please click here.
