In 1948 MV Dartmouth Castle replaced her paddle steamer predecessor and as well as taking her name, she also was fitted with the paddler's wheelhouse and lifeboat. She was launched at a cost of just over £11,000. She continued plying the River Dart for the RDS Co until 1975 when she was sold to Millbrook Steamboat &Trading Co and was sold on after a couple of seasons to Dart Pleasure Craft.
