Comments:

PS Buffalo was built by Cairds for the fleet of Messrs G & J Burns in 1865 and was engined by D & W Henderson & Co. She is shown here at the Barrow Shipyard prior to undergoing conversion to PS Donegal (I), after being purchased by the Barrow Steam Navigation Co in 1881. For the BSN Co she sailed from Barrow to the Isle of Man and lasted until 1897 when she was broken up.

I am grateful to Ron Meredith-Jones for supplying the above image of PS Donegal (I). Ron's Great Grandfather was briefly manager of the Barrow shipyard and this picture comes from his time there, circa 1880-81. Thanks also go to Mike Walker for the positive indentification of this ship.
