James Black, Engineer

James Black, Engineer and crew PS Gwalia
James Black was employed by the Caledonian Steam Packet Co as a Superintendent Engineer from March 1896 to July 1904, when the post was abolished. He came down from the Clyde to Barry with PS Gwalia, as a Guarantee Engineer from John Brown's Shipyard, and stayed with her from 1905-08. I am grateful to his great grandson, Leighton Passant for allowing me to share these family images with you.
