query from Archie Nicols. The paddle box emblems of PS
Duchess of Hamilton, PS Caledonia and PS Marchioness of
Lorne used to be on display at Wemyss Bay and Gourock

This unidentified paddle steamer was
photographed in the early 1880's when Ron Meredith-Jones'
great grandfather was Manager of the Barrow Shipyard. It
shows a steamer in "before and after" shots,
but which is which and what is the steamer? Is she
undergoing refurbishment or being prepared for breaking

PS Consul is shown here backing away from
a pier in a 1950's family snap. The reverse of the
picture says it is off the Seven Sisters on the South
Coast, but this has proved inaccurate. Can you identify
