This picture shows PS Queen of Kent tied up at a quay on the continent, but can anyone tell me where this picture was taken?
The picture has been now identified as being taken when she was at Calais, at quai Paul Devot. In the foreground right is the quay of the Gare maritime. I am advised that in France, there are a lot of photographs showing the two Queens (of Kent and Thanet) departing from this part of the Calais harbour. Desembarking on this side of the harbour permited the day trippers to go into town easily. The location was identified by Christian Borde, who is a senior lecturer at the Université du Littoral in Boulogne-sur-mer and a specialist of maritime history for the 19th and 20th centuries, and who is also a ship lover of many years. My thanks go to Christian for his help.
My thanks go to George Robinson for supplying this picture to me.
